Braided stainless hose flaws

I bought some -10 Mr. Gasket braided hose, and it has quite a few of these annoying cosmetic flaws in the braid. Is there another brand that doesn't have this problem? Aeroquip? Russell? My local shop doesn't stock any of these so I can't see them before buying. Thanks

no your right that looks like crap, im not really sure what brand i got but i don't think it was mr gasket i bought all my stiff from either summit or murrys and didn't have any issues like that.

thats being a tid bit anal... but i've seen a lot of russell hoseing come through my work and its always looked nice...

have you looked at the black nylon braided stuff?

ive used both with great sucess

and also if your that worried about the hose you better be real careful when assembling the hose ends because not scratching them is a pain

an fittings are a little hard to assemble... i like using the pushlock fittings...

For how expensive braided lines are they should be perfect...

Let's face it..........Braided hoses carry a large bling factor. who wants to drop money on "look at me" bling, and then have to worry about if someone is going to notice the flaws?

I've never bought braided hose before, and this stuff looks like it has defects. My car is full of flaws, I'd just like to avoid adding more if don't have to

Get some -AN wrenches, and the vice inserts. No more scratches!

Nah, once you've got it figured out, it's pretty easy. It still sucks when you get a fray into your finger, but I had very little issues putting together my lines.

The wrenches are only good for the portion that screws on. The actual part that you need to tighten to put the braid line together requires a different wrench, not an A&N.

I can't see the pic while at work. (blocked. ) When I'm assembling the hose end to the hose, I use the vice insert, and twist the hose into the end, rather than try to twist the end onto the hose.

Or am I reading you wrong?

100% correct. i have AN wrenches and the vise inserts but i still have to use tape to reduce scratches. the ends require large standard wrenches (dont use adjustable wrenches). all and all im not worried about little scratches on them.

Oh, I gotcha. LOL. Yeah, i just line my wrenches with a super thin rag, like an old worn out T-shirt. That seems to do the trick.
