Hey guys i just looked up some info on the BOV......and I read shaeffs post about running two (BOV and a Bypass) I am not quite sure I understand why you would run both......with that being said, can i run both even though i have an AFM???? ( I know that is a newby question but I never understood that) thanks :icon_bigg

Where did you read this? A link would help to understand what exactly shaeff stated.

Generally speaking, there is no reason to run both a BOV and BPV, especially an upgraded BOV and the stock BPV. The stock one may still leak air back to the intake and the BOV is still going to vent some air to the atmosphere, so you get no benefits and will still have the loss of metered air when the throttle closes. This is assuming use of a pre-turbo AFM.

With bigger turbos, it may be necessary to use multiple BOVs due to the amount of airflow that needs to be vented when the throttle closes, but that is a totally different issue.

Well, in my case it seemed to work pretty well. I was getting bad compressor surge at low boost. My Blitz BOV was not triggering under 3lbs boost. It would blow off under higher boost just fine. I checked the valve and it was operating properly as far as I could tell, just not fast enough or at low enough boost levels. I solved the problem by putting a Bosch 110 in the stock location. Now under low boost the Bosch takes care of compressor surge, and under high boost the Blitz blows off. I suppose I could have just bought a new BOV and replaced the blitz, but the bosch option was alot cheaper.

Those bosches work very well.

Go to a saab or GM dealer

I think its called a "Compressor Relief Valve" or something like that. Its for a Saab 9000 Turbo.

When someone runs multiple BOV/BPV's, it's usually to help steer away from compressor surge.

Whether it be GReddy Type RS, HKS SSQV, Blitz, whatever, many people that run 2 units use a Bosch 110 as the 2nd (By-pass Valve) and prevents stalling in between shifts or simply decelerating.

I, too, will be running a Bosch 110 sometime down the road...

Until then, my SSQV works just fine...with the exception of a bit of CS. :icon_conf

Actually this isnt entirely true. With upgraded bovs (especially with larger turbos) you have an issue with low psi blow off. the stock or bosch bpv does a better job of venting back into the accordian hose and possibly fixing the stumbling/backfire issue that people have when running a bov vented to the atmosphere.

I'd just buy the adapter for the ssqv and plumb it back into the accordain hose and get rid of the stocker. There should be no problem hearing the BOV even though it's being recirculated.

A recirculated HKS SSQV....you can still hear it *wshhh* a bit, but it's NOTHING like the effect you get when running it vented @ 16psi or so lol.
