Well... recently i have come to notice that my car intermittently has trouble holding/building boost. best case while i am driving i will rarely see over 5-6psi in first then it usually holds around 10 in every other gear wot. but other times i will see 5-6 psi in every gear and if it does hit 10 psi it will gradually drop off to 5 psi while on the throttle or it will spike to 11 or 12 psi.... I am currently building a boost leak tester for my compressor so i will test the intercooler for leaks soon..... What could this be??? how can i properly test the stock twins? Also i believe they are on their way out because they do smoke alot.... is this a symptom of dying stock twins????

If they're smoking alot then you're turbo's are probably just toast. Replace them before they grenade and you're picking pieces of compressor blade out of your intake pipes.

Stupid question..., but how exactly would i go about doing a boost leak test for a stock 1jz? i read a couple of diy articles and they deal with mostly aftermarket turbos...

Bump... would i just attach this custom made piece of PVC with the fitting in replacement of the air filter? then pressurize the whole engine? are there any lines i have to remove?

and recently from what it looks like the smoking has stopped? weird.. i believe it had something to do with coolant pressure and my thermostat ( currently not running any because the water wouldn't circulate with it in ) or the cold weather??
