Hey all, once again running into problems with my Supra. (Surprise) Haha.
Tried searching the forums best I could for possible solutions, but nothing. I've recently had work done to my car, and now my car is only boosting @ 5PSI. I don't want to go back to the guy who did the work (which was a friend of my dad's shop) because they did a terrible job as far as cleanliness and work ethics go. Plus I don't even think they even know what they are doing. But that being beside the point, I saw in most of the searches to do a Boost Leak Test. Now I am pretty unfamiliar with cars, so how would I do this myself? Aside from that, any other possible solutions to this problem? This happens regardless of time of day, day or night still hits 5PSI. Things that have been done to the car.

Rebuilt 7MGTE w/all new internals.
Proper torque and headgaskets replaced. ARP Hardware
Walbro Fuel Pump
HKS SSQ Bov
From previous owner car does have HKS pfc f-con unit, HKS turbo timer which is not connected, HKS electronic valve controller, HKS fuel cut defencer
ACT Stage II Clutch Kit, Fidanza flywheel.
And right now that's all I can really think of off the top of my head. Wastegate hasn't been shimmed still stock.

Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.

P.S.-
If anybody is in the Socal area(LA/OC) that would like to donate some of their time to help a fellow Supra owner out. I'm located here in Downey and would be great if someone could help me out sometime soon with just figuring out the car and what I still need to do to have it running tip top. :]

I tested my system with nothing more than a air compressor and a couple of caps off a spray paint cans! lol. I found the cap to be about the right size to cover the hose going into the 3000 pipe, put a nipple on another cap (just drilled a small hole and apoxied a nipple into the hole) and connected it to the line comming OUT of the turbo. Connected air compressor and pumped up to 20psi... shut off pump and listen for air. I held >10psi for a good 30 seconds and the only air I could hear was from my caps.

That being said... you mentioned that you had "Some Work" done... what did they work on?

Yeah i don't see the big issue here, 5 psi on a fairly stock car is about normal. i think mine is 5.5-6. hope to have a solid six when i get a dp back 3".

Is that so? I was under the impression that stock is 8PSI...and only reason why I'm saying this is because before it was at the shop it was boosting near the 10PSI makr on my boost gauge. And by the way it is not utilizing the stock boost gauge. As for the other question, when it was in the shop first was for a blown headgasket, and while it was there I decided on doing a full stock rebuild of the engine. All factory parts were used aside from the gasket which was a 1.2MM HKS headgasket. And ARP hardware which was torqued to 75ft/lbs.

Stock boost pressure is in that link I posted. Different for Auto/5Spd. If you were getting 10PSI before, did that shop replace your turbo, or WG Actuator? Or the tubing to it? What is this "HKS electronic valve controller"? EBC?

I know that they did not replace the turbo, because I never got one to replace it with although I was thinking of getting a rebuilt 57trim. WG Actuator and tubing are both new terms to me, but from what I know, no they were not replaced. Yes, EBC is what I meant. It came in the car from the previous owner. Although I believe it does not work at all because it doesn't do anything for me regardless if it's on or off. And unfortunately I don't have the necessary skills to remove it. I've tried getting rid of the PFC F-CON unit and also the EBC. But I don't know how to fully remove all the components from the engine for the EBC and to remove the F-Con unit it goes around all the A/C components in the glove box so I can't remove it from the engine harness. Oh yeah, and it is a 5SPD but I'm pretty sure you guys already figured that out. :icon_bigg

Dunno man..Good luck.

Thanks man, well if there's anyone here in the LA/OC Area that would like to give me a hand that would be great. Because I don't think the shop knew how to properly put the car back together. Because a friend of mine did find that Power Steering was connected to something else..If someone can send me a PM, would be very much appreciated.
