so heres my problem- when driving around and hitting WOT, my boost gauge only goes up to about 1 PSI. It was set at 5 previously, but one night i get in to drive it and have hardly any boost. i was thinking my turbo may be bad, but i can still hear the wastegate blowing off when i let off the gas, and i thought if It was bad, i wouldnt get any boost at all? I dont hear any boost leaks, but would i if it was only leaking from 5 psi?

I checked my intercooler piping, and it all seems ok, (I have hardpipes and a greddy oversized IC)

anybody have any ideas? :1zhelp:

PS- no diag. codes.

Is your wastegate stuck open? Can you see if it is fully closed? I'm not a turbo expert, but just thought I'd ask.

the wastegate is by the turbo housing, correct? I should note that my stock BOV was leaking from the vacuum nipple to the manifold side, and causing a high idle problem, so it is disconnected now, and left closed. It isn't leaking from manifold to the accordion hose last time i checked, and i blocked off the nipple, but i will double check it.

PS- im only running without the BOV til i can get a new one, its not a permanent fix, plus the wastegate was only set at 5psi.

gah, i found it. the wastegate's little arm that goes back to the turbo popped off of the little knob it hooks on to. must have happened when my friend and i were trying to get to the oil filter. i guess all i have to do is just wrestle it back on there and im good lol. I did find that my turbo has little to no shaft play (good), but some, almost all of the blades are chipped on the front edges. i think this is due to the PO running without a filter and little tidbits getting sucked in there and hitting the blades. anywho, does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit/compressor fan for cheap?

PS- i love how firefox spellcheck thinks anywho isn't a word, but its fine with 'tidbits'

I'm glad you found it.

As far as rebuilding kits go, I'm not sure, but I do know that www.driftmotion.com is now offering to rebuild ct26's. I've heard great things about the 57trim. Good luck. You can't go wrong with Aaron from driftmotion.

Yea you deffinately want to send the turbo to a professional(like driftmotion) for a rebuild. Once taken apart or when parts are changed, the turbo needs to be rebalanced. You'll probably be alright for a while if they are small chips and there is no shaft play.

If I remember correctly the wastegate actuator rod is held on with a small c-clip. Getting that back on is going to be pretty hard with the turbo on the car.
yea, and it you get it on half way and it flys into the engine bay...well, you prob wont find it:nono:
