Ok, im working on my buddy's 87 supra. I just replaced the turbo with another CT26 and everytime we start to build boost, it engine cuts out at around 5 psi or so of boost. I think it might be a severe boost leak, but all the pipes are in good shape. I think it might be the blow off valve for the fact that when i first got the new turbo hooked up, the BOV sounded like it normally did (the fluttering noise), but I turned up the boost a bit with the XS manual boost controller and it popped one of the intercooler pipes off and now sounds more like a semi's. I put the pipe back on and now it's cutting out.

search "boost leak tester" you will find instrutions on how to build one and do the test. quick easy and effective. your thing almost sounds like fule cut, but that doesnt happen at 5psi. to test you BOV take it off and see if you can blow through it. if you can than it's fubar. did the car run ok before you put the new turbo in?

car ran like a top, that's why i dont understand why it did it. maybe i bumped off a vaccuum line or something? i also just put a new vaccuum source for the BOV while i was waiting for a reply, and now im waiting for my buddy to bring the key over to check it.

its a boost leak....even if you can only build 5lbs in the pipes with the leaks that amount of air is still moving through the afm which is what the computer uses to know when to much air is coming in ie fuel cut.
