boost gauge wiring

i been searching the forum and cant quite get the exact answer i need.. im wiring up a boost gauge that has 3 wires in it..

yellow: switched
red: constant
black: ground

my question is.. can i hook ALL 3 of these wires up to wires found on the cigarette lighter? if so, which 3 wires should i use? the wires are..

blue w/ red: switched
black w/ white: ground
green: illumination
cant remember last colour wire but it is the illumination ground

i want the gauge to dim when i dim the dash lights

You cant use the cigarette lighter for a power source. You could use the stereo. Or you can just use the ignition harness, heres a diagram for the ignition harness. As far as wiring the gauge for diming I have absolutely no idea as how to do that, although its probably as easy as using a multimeter and figuring out which wire from the dimmer switch is 12V controlled.
