Bolt on Big Brake Kit For around 300$.

so i went to install the brakes today and the hub centric rings i got didn't center the rotor good at all. i just got some plastic ones off amazon. i guess im going to try some aluminum ones and hope they fit better. if anyone has a place where they got them that work good let me know.

^the caliper has the threads on it the car just has a hole.

how did they not center the rotor good?

I used the plastic ones on 2 cars. i had to sand them down a little bit to get them to fit easier as they were a tight fit.

I guess the ones I got weren't made that well. With the centric ring on the rotor I can lift it up and down when its resting on the on the hub. It's like it doesn't fit tight enough on the hub. I was hoping if anything it'd be to tight so i could sand it down for a perfect fit but is too loose a fit. These are the only ones on ebay. Are they the ones you ordered? I didn't like how they were hollow but if they fit better i guess it wont matter.

Ok i read through and didnt see Any confirmation but does anyone know the specifics of the 350z Rotor?

Ive seen somebody use one that supposably is perfect fitment 5X114.3 and looks to fit great with the mercedes calipers.

I saw the 350z touring rotor used also. But my thinking was the R class rotor might be better if its heavier (mire metal for less fade) plus the R class is a heavyyyy vehicle as is the S class (both over 4000lbs) which makes me think its plenty for a mk3. Anybody able to do a comparison of the R class and 350z rotor?

The picture you saw on fb had an s500 caliper with a 12.5 350z rotor. 350z rotor = 317.5mm or 12.5" and R350 rotor = 330mm or 12.99" (according to google searches). While I was looking at calipers the r350 and S500 do share some of the same mounting points and calipers, depends on the year. But i'm sure you can use the 350z rotor, with a smaller rotor you might have pads hanging on the outer edge of the rotor.

Ahhh ok that makes sense. Why use the smaller rotor though? Ultimately the caliper dictates clearence no? Im using the s500 calipers and the R350 rotor when it comes time to bolt my kit on. Still like seeing all the info in this thread.

Well, for one that rotor is a true 5x114.3 so maybe that's the reason he used it. The actual appearances between the 2 calipers )s500 and r350) are different. However, i'm sure they perform very close to each other if not the same. I know that 350z come with many different sizes of rotors too. Idk how big the rotors size for the Z with the brembo kit is. Also, Z rotors might be a lot cheaper.

Edit: Search yields that brembo rotors from the 350z is 324mm so its bigger than the normal Z. That's not bad for a good plug and play rotor, then again the R350 is also, i guess you can say, plug and play.

Well the r350 needs the hub centric rings. I would guess priced are similar being that the 350z brembo brake rotors would be marked up "sports" or "racing" rotors. The R350 rotors can be had pretty cheap on rock auto. Im going with those just on the grounds that they should be a little beefier since theyre for a van/suv (the ML uses the same rotors on certain trim levels also)

ive seen on the facebook group were they have to grind the inside the the caliper to fit the 350z touring rotor. surely the larger r350 rotor has the same clearence issues?

The only clearence issues noted in this thread is the dust shield (kinda obvious when going to any bigger rotor) and spacking the caliper out 4 or 5mm. Just wondering what the comparisons between the 350z and r350 rotors are? Price and measurement wise.

350z rotors (317.5mm) can be had for a lot cheaper.

Soooo the 350z ones (judging by height) should take an EXTRA 4 or 5mm with the Merc W220 caliper? Also the R350 rotor is sliiightly thicker and a couple pounds heavier? This leads me to believe it might be a bit more fade resistant? Ive made my decision personally im gunna run the Merc r350 rotor. I see no reason (other than price) why the 350z rotors are better?

The 350Z brembo rotors are very close in size to MKIV TT rotors, FWIW. Hub size is different, though.

Wouldnt the pads hang off a bit with the 350 rotors since its a smaller diameter?

Yeah the 350z rotor isn't going to work. The Mercedes rotor fits perfect and the rotor just fits past the pad so there's no pad overhang. The problem is finding a good way to center the rotor perfectly so there's no vibration or the rotor will sit past the pads then the other side be inside the pads....

How have you not checked to se if the ones on your car fit well or not? Cause you don't want to drive on them till the rotors centered perfectly that's for sure!
