Body side moulding

Does anybody know if I purchase new body side
moulding for my '87 from toyota does it still
have the metal backing to it? Or is the replacement
have the plastic backing like the '89+ trim?

Good question. I would think it would be metal backed because the colors were differnt too.

I called my local dealership & they told me they didn't
know. I'd hoped maybe toyota would've changed it.

IIRC the 86.5-88 side moldings new from toyota still have the metal backing... IMO it would be just better to go to 89+ side moldings unless your trying to keep the 86.5-88 look.

Id half to agree with Scott, if they are not done correctly like Randy did then they look like shit...

+3 Definitly going with mouldings, painting them the same as body color. I will try to find out for sure on the backings soon.

If you're going to paint them to match the car, just get used 89+ mouldings since they won't rust or be horribly warped...
