Bluemkiii's 1jz swap thread...

Well I've been wanting to make a build thread but i havent had time, so here it goes. I bought a 90 supra turbo targa auto:icon_razz from a forum member(turbo, targa, life). The car had a 7mgte with low compression:3d_frown: So I decided to go 1jz:evil2:. here is the supra coming home from missouri to azrizona.

here is the 1jz motorset that I bought locally for cheap:naughty:[

So when it arrived from the long journey:biglaugh: I gave it a bath and took off those ugly sawblades:3d_frown:

Here is a shot of the engine bay after I cleaned it a little,

So far I have replaced the the front and rear main seals, timing belt, water pump, and I have also puts shims in the the 1j auto tranny, (Yes its going to be a 1j auto :icon_bigg) so that it can shift faster:naughty:. I bought a y-pipe and downpipe combo so that should be nice. And i replaced other little things that don't come to mind at the moment. Here is a pic of how the 1j sits right now

I want to drop the 1jz in next week but we will see what happens, let me know what you guys think.

I thinnk that is one of the prettiest gay blue supras I've ever seen. It's second only to DaSoups. Looks like you're ready to go in with the motor now, so don't wait until next week.......Just kidding

What did you shim on the automatic? Maybe I should do that to my wife's auto if it will help it out some.

i was thinking about the turbo, as long as it is not too far gone and has minor or no cracks in the wastegate opening, and the afm electronics since it is wise to have a spare.

Its running great, I have a little oil leak from the pan but its not a big deal, I hope to have her tuned on the 440s bye summer time, It will be a wile before Ill have the chance of getting a bigger fuel system since I am trying to save for a house.

For some reason gay blue and 1J just seem to go together well. Must be because the car is color challenged and the engine is torque challenged.....lol:biglaugh:

Well a lil bit of an update, I'm going to try to drop in the engine on saturday! Any advise or tips would be appreciated.

Well I got the engine in it wasn't that hard of a task considering this is my first engine swap, Of course with the help of my big brother(redmkiii):bigthumb: well enough talking now for the pics:icon_razz

I hoping to have it running this next week or the week after!
