my car was having trouble idling for about a week and then i was going down the interstate near my house and my car shut off.....stupid me, i thought it was just the factory fuel pump that went out so i changed it, who would've thought, I had a blown EFI fuse......any help as to how to get my car back and running??? I know theres probably a short somewhere but where to start??

I just had this happen to my car. Lemme guess, the car has trouble idling especially after a hot start and a short rest after driving around?

Mine was caused by faulty wiring in the harness. 18 year old car - the wiring is starting to degrade. You need to break out your multimeter and check your circuits from the sensor to the ECU and see where the problem lies. A TSRM, online or otherwise, will be very beneficial

number 1 cause of a blown efi fuse is a melted 02 sensor wire.

check the 02 wiring to see if it got melted by the exhaust manifold.

Another common one is the harness rubbing through the insulation where is goes across the intake manifold from the firewall. It should be supported off the intake runners by several wire clips, but they disintegrate over time.

would the efi fuse blow if the main relay went bad??? just wondering before i go out into the heat n under the hood

anything on the +B line shorted to ground, including the main relay and circuit opening relay. also check the egr wiring. it often melts as well.

If you've removed your EGR, BVSV and the VSV or anything else, make sure you don't have any wires flapping around that may be chaffed and can short out when you go around a turn or something by hitting the manifold or block.
