ok so i have an 87 supra with the 7mgte(lovely motor). i had bought another block for my build from a guy that said it was a 88 7mgte. i have heard that the are different like thicker side walls and the use of oil squirters that squirt on to the crank. other these the only difference, is it even true?

Oil squirters are in all GTE blocks (pre -88 and 88+)... except turbo A maybe.
Post 88 blocks have different crank (heavier, smoother and lower redline in stock).
And yes.. later blocks are more beefy.

I thought it was mid-late production 89 that got the 7M crank and then only 90+ got the reinforced block.

ok so its looken like i got a newer block. thats good to know. now i have been talking to a shop about how they will clean the block and the said some kinda ultarsonice methed, that wouldnt hurt the block if there is inpefections in it. well it might be better for it to happen in the tank than on the road. what is the method best for the 7m block if there is one?
He wants to know if ultrasonic cleaning will hurt his block (presumably cause cracking, hairline fissures etc.).
