Trying my friend's Blitz ecu. It looks like it's tuned for 550cc injectors. I have a sard 540cc and was able to fine tuned it with my SAFC. Only trouble is I noticed when the engine is started cold the idle speed surges from 2300-2600 rpm. However, as soon as the engine is warmed up (about 1 minute) the idle speed will stabilize around 800-900 rpm. Thought maybe my ISCV gone bad so just to test it I installed the stock ecu and during cold start up it was normal. The car drives fine with the blitz ecu only trouble is during cold start up. Anyone running blitz ecu and have experienced the same problem? Or is this normal for upgraded ecu?

Thanks.

while my old mines ecu worked, cold start was <1500rpms and i made it so the idle was at 900 with my cams

Did your rpm go up and down and how did you make it idle at 900 during cold? Bypassed iscv?

I can live with high idle during cold but the surges (up and down) may not be good for the engine?

i have a 3/16th's hole drilled into the throttle blade

no surge in the idle, but i dont really think a surge can hurt the motor, im not 100% sure tho

Thanks BZ. Anyone else running Blitz ecu here?
I ran the blitz until about 8 months ago when the caps went bad. I was never able to have a smooth warm setting. The car ran fine from cold until ti warmed up and then it just clicked upto about 1200-1300rpm. I have the same problem now with a stock ecu though, so i dont think it had anything to do with the blitz. Only issue with the blitz was the horrible fuel mileage. Sometimes it was below 12mpg and i dont drive crazy.

Mine was the opposite. After the engine warmed up it runs fine with the blitz. Although when I took it to 5k rpm it just breaks up so I don't know if the blitz is tuned for higher than my 540cc.

The idle surges is what's annoying to me. My stock ecu idles perfect during cold start up. Hope someone else may chime in and give us any insight on these upgraded ecu's.

Yeah, i definitely didn't have that problem. I was able to rev to 7k without any issues. It ran very well! Only issue was the idle when warm and that is still a problem, so it wasn't the ecu.

Have you checked the cap, i mean, have you replaced all caps? If you havent, do it now! They will go at the worst time ever. I was driving up a hill on my way to church! It destroyed the 500 dollar ecu :(

It might be tuned for cams as well.

That's another thing we're thinking as the cold start idle is very aggressive.

As for the caps, we opened it up and it looked pretty new and no signs of leaky or blown caps we can detect. I wish there's a way to find out but from what I read unless you know JAP you can call blitz.
