Blind spots on a supra

Might seem like a silly question but here i goes anyways. My mk3 does have rectangle blind spot mirrors on both sides, theyre a great addition and they do give me a little bit more information to make a decison. My problem is that coming from driving pretty much only sedans, it was Much easier to check my blind spot, with the supra on the other hand it seems to be a little more compilcated, especially the left blind spot(LHD by the way). If anyone has tips that i could use to get a little more adjusted would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There are no blind spots if your mirrors are correctly adjusted. Side mirrors shouldn't be aimed down the side of the car, they should be aimed out farther.

To adjust the driver's side, put your head against the window and aim that mirror down the side of the car. To adjust the passenger's side, put your head over the center console and aim down the side of the car.

Now, as a car approaches from behind you'll see them in your rear view, then your side mirrors, and then right beside you out the window.

Err... shoulder check? Admittedly, I've been driving Supras for at least a couple decades by now, so maybe I'm just used to it...

I always shoulder check, but I'm used to looking at a full back window, the supra has a huge b pillar and a quarter panel window. I guess its just something i have to get used to. Thanks for your reply.

IMO turning your head away from the street may cause a nice crash :)
Like Poodles said and absolutelly no blind spots. I never have to turn my head. (I lean it sometimes to make sure when changing lanes to the left though, but actually it was never needed, the middle rear view mirror does it all. Tinting the rear glass to a trash bag doesn't help though)

Btw, supra mirrors (at least the Euro ones) are quite good imo. They look small, but you can see a lot through them.

Personally, I often check my sides and especially my rear. You never know when some punk ass is going to decide not to brake. I usually have no problem knowing if someone is next to me/behind me at any given time.

Long ago, I made it a habit to *always* shoulder check. It's saved me far more accidents than it's caused.

Of course, I was driving a Ford cargo van at the time, with blind spots large enough to provide cover for medium sized sedans.

I tried what poodles said to try, and to my surprise i can see everything. I had someone walk around the car to see how much i could see. I will probably continue to check my blind spots as i would in a sedan or something, there's no sense breaking a good habit. It doesnt hurt to get that extra bit of information. It really sucks when you're signaling and some jackass decides to drive faster and not let you in. Thanks for all the answers guys.

This. Never understood people who point their mirrors at the side of the car, doesn't make any sense...

This as well. Just make sure you know what's in front of you and what *could* be in front of you before turning to glance.

This was one reason driving a Miata was kinda nice. Top down, you had no blind spots, and really didn't need to look either, because you could hear anything that was around you.

Haha, a lesson I learned when I was younger and in a friend's RX7 TII, is that is you're going faster than everyone else on the roadway, there *can't* be anything in your blind spots. :p

The problem with a Miata isn't the it's *own* blind spots, it's the blind spots for all the drivers around you. I've nearly run a Miata or two off the road when in the van - one time that sticks in my head, the only thing that saved the guy was a flag on his antenna. Without that flag, even with shoulder checking, there just wasn't anything to see!

Hence why my Mom's Miata has Hella airhorns.

Good point. Fortunately, I was always smart enough to be aware of where I was in relation to people's mirrors. I get uneasy in ANY car if I can't see their eyes in *their* mirror, I change position, traffic-wise. Have nearly been run off the road in the Supra at least twice when cruising by people...

I think that's usually the first thing to be swapped out in those cars haha... and with good reason. Always wanted to put a reversing alarm on mine. :p
