About a month ago I had my BHG repaired, about a month later I get that same problem again. Or so I thought. My car started spewing out white smoke; and overheating. Took my car in to get looked at had my radiator flushed and I no longer have overheating issues. I still spew out white smoke though :[. As well I have had the car pressure tested, compression tested, and have had the head taken off and looked at to see if its cracked and nothing. I have no idea what the problem could possibly be because one, I am not very knowledgable in cars let alone the Supra, and two, I don't have the time that I wish I did have to figure it out. :|

Also, excuse me for not using the search feature, but for some reason it doesn't work correctly on my phone. Any ideas as far as solutions or what the problem might be are greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Dimitris

Where did you have the HG fixed? Did they torque it to 85 ft/lbs?

I had it done at a shop my dad's friend owns. I had them torque it to 75ft/lbs
And the engine was milled down as well and I only needed stock size MHG.

well what was the results of the compression test and pressure test???? Do you know for a fact its burning coolant??? How's your water level? Do you hear a waterfall sound behind the dash? Is there water on your oil? Is the underside of the oil cap covered in a foamy type crap? Is there oil in you radiator? More info would be super!

He forgot to mention that his oil was milkshaky. Definite sign of a BHG.

If they actually REMOVED the head to inspect it for cracks, then they obviously had to replace the head gasket at the same time.

If your car is still smoking, then something is obviously burning. Coolant is always white.

And you say you don't have time to figure out what's wrong? LOL, shouldn't have bought a Supra...They are huge money and time sinks. There are cars that are worse, but this one is definitely up there.

god I hate to ask dumb questions. but it's better than screwing things up. I hear the "waterfall" in my dash, WTF is causing that, heater core issue would be my first guess. I'm no noob by any means, I'd just rather ask first and know than go tearing things apart trying to find it without knowing what it is exactly. thanks

When the shop did the headgasket did they remove the rivit that hits the block? It needs to be remove. When the deck was cut did you have the rear timing belt cover cut too? It needs to be.

Not too sure about the rivet on the MHG, but I'll get back to you on that. But to further clarify what was actually happening to me, when I drive, I did not overheat at all or smoke; but when I did come to a complete stop or deaccelerated, the car would smoke out of the exhaust. Lots of white smoke. I do understand that this could be coolant, but if there's enough oil burning it can also be white correct? If so any ideas as to what the problem could be if it is oil? Blown turbo? Piston rings? Valve seals? Let me know please. Thanks

It could be any of those things you listed. If a small amount of oil is burning, it can look white, but if there is a LOT of oil burning, it definitely will make blue smoke.

Sometimes a BHG can exhibit symptoms for a while, then it will be ok for a while...there are many different ways a head gasket can blow.
