You have to be aware that there are different types of BHG's. Keep in mind that the HG's job is to seal not just one thing, but
three (cylinder gases, water lines, and oil channels)! With that said, a blown HG can mean different things: it can mean that there is a leak from the cylinder to the water jacket, or a leak from the coolant to the oil channels, or sometimes from one cylinder to another cylinder...I don't know if a cylinder to oil channel has ever existed on these cars--if it did, one symptom of that would be your dipstick blowing out. Each of those BHG's I mentioned will show different symptoms. If you have an oil passage to water jacket leak, that will NOT affect your cylinders as far as the compression #'s or a leak down test is concerned. Even if you do have a cylinder to water jacket leak, it may be only intermittent and not show up with the relatively low pressure that is present in such testings. (Keep in mind that the combustion pressures [especially with turbo engines] are far greater than the pressures of what a leak down test or compression test will offer.)
If you have what I am suspecting, you
may also have an oily residue in your coolant. Check for that as well.
Not to brag about my write up, but it may be of some help to you:
