My car has only really ever over heated once because i had the electric fans on and i turned them off and forgot about it but that was last year. My motor was completely rebuilt less than 10K ago with a Cometic MHG.
So I put the stock fan back on. I changed my coolant and since then there was been reaccuring gurgling behind the dash. It will go away for a few days then come back. After a big night of racing around I felt my upper radiator hose and there wasnt any water in it as usual. So i filled it up. The car always sits around 195F running temp with a stock thermostat. I got in my car today after work and started it and i could hear the gurgling behind the dash pretty loud. The more I revved it the quieter it got.
After a bit of driving I got home and started diagnosing it but only to be confused. When i take the radiator cap off and start the car without the heater on the coolant slowly rises over the neck of the radiator, but when I have the heater on it doesnt rise. I turned the AC on full blast with the cap off and after a few seconds coolant started shooting out of the radiator. Filled it back up and the cap back on. Started it and let it idle for a few minutes, the upper radiator hose remained soft which is unusual because usually at running temp its really hard to pinch but I could feel the water in it. Turn it off and let it sit for a minute, felt the upper hose and I couldnt feel any water in it. Sure enough I take the cap off and it was down from what I filled it too. Where is all my coolant going? Its not burning it because there is no smoke, no more gurgling behind the dash either.
HELP! Supra meet this weekend in Sac and I want to go.
