You'll be lucky to find anybody willing to do it under $1600. That's assuming he didn't warp the head, and I had estimates as high as $2200. That was when decided to learn how a forced induction motor works and started reading everything I could here. I did it for $700 including having to buy a bunch of tools, and that's how I got addicted to my Supra. :)

You should really ask your local shops. They can give you an estimate without seeing the car.

It's really not that hard to fix, if you wanted to do it by yourselves. Let's face it, if Shytheed can do it, how hard can it be? Just kidding Kurt, you know I love you, plus, you have really brought your car a long way in the past year...............

Thanks Jay, but you're right. :) I hadn't done much car work when I tackled the hg, and it really wasn't much harder than following a recipe to bake a cake. The TSRM and this site are the perfect Idiots Guide to Repairing your Supra. :biglaugh:

It's SOOO much easier on the wallet to do this job on your own. You can bet your ass that the cost of labor will be, at the least, what you'll be paying in parts, if not double ;).

Most local shops that you will go to will not have worked with a 7M before, so they probably don't understand the tight tolereances with the head and block needing to be as straight and smooth as possible for a MHG, not to mention the torque specs being inacurate.

Just working out cost for mine as it has bit the dust two. So far i am up to £975 and that is mates rates from group A supra. That includes cometic gasket set arp studs, greddy timming belt ,water pump, rolling road set up for safcii and apexi boost control and trailer collection from my place to Steves shop.
No decent shops where i live that i would trust to get this right.
Getting an expensive hobbie this.

For some reason i just have the feeling not letting a shop work on my car. I feel that they would not do wat i would normally do. They may over tight or miss something. Thats just me, i'll try to fix it my self.
