Like a fuse, but you can reset it. Think power distribution panel on a house.

but how.. theres no switch on it... does that mean when i shut power off to the circuit it will just auto reset?

I think the word "auto reset" is the key here ;)
Likely when the load is removed...you would need to do a bit of research for specifics.

You would have to tap the round flat spot on the side of the water neck above the ECU coolant sensor. There is no flow through the rad when the T-stat is closed...you could remove the jiggle valve at the top of the T-stat, leaving a small hole for constant flow. This is a good mod to do regardless to prevent a pressure build-up behind the stat.

The aux fans come on at 107 deg C iirc.

Do the fans really need to be on if theres no flow to the radiator?

^i would think it would help remove heat from the intercooler and other stuff as well..

They need to come on just prior to when the T-stat opens. Hence the suggestion for an 75-80 deg C switch in the water neck before the T-stat. ;)

The factory aux fans are there to assist when the A/C is running and the thermal load to the radiator increases.

Viper - If you go the CB route, I would want one that is a manual reset. I'd like to know if/when it pops.

thank jdub, i'll see what i can find. BTW IJ, if you have a working undercover and upper cover shouldn't u not need fans on the IC since ur fan is pulling air thru it anyway?

ooo info on auto breakers:
Single Pole Thermal Type Breaker- (Plastic & Metal Housing) Auto Reset
Breaker remains open on overload and resets automatically upon cooling down.

in case this helps anyone but fuses i think are going to end up being better. i looked up the max operating temps of the bussman breakers, and they are max operating temp of 65C or 150ish. THey also become less efficient as they get warmed up by the engine bay. :( this is for the bussman circuit breakers with stud mounts.
