This is actually a two part question.

Question one:
I'm planning on placing my wideband lc-1 about three inches behind the stock o2 sensor; I will be using the heat sink isolator. However, I will not be running an egr system (I understand that this will cause a rise in egt). I was wondering if this will give me enough isolation.

Second question:
I have a laptop that I will be using for data logging and I was wondering what software would be the best. Also, I do not have a serial port and will be using a serial to usb converter.

As always thanks in advance.

If you're concerned about heat why not put the wide band o2 down by where the down pipe makes the final bend to run parallel with the ground? That's where I have mine and it seems to work great.

If I remember correctly, the sensor is supposed to be about 3 feet down the exhaust, as heat is an issue. Many people put them closer to the exhaust manifold, but in all reality, if you see it go max lean on a WOT pull, you're screwed either way...

3" is way too close, you need to look at the instructions that come with the wideband sensor, it should say in there somewheres how far away the sensor is supposed to be placed.

I have the lc1 and IIRC it doesn't say anything in the manual about mounting distance.

It does say, however, not to mount it in the 6 o'clock position because condensation will ruin the sensor.

Mine is almost in the stock location (I have it run into my ecu, so I only have one sensor), but I have yet to fire the car up and see what happens.

so my question really is, is the heat sink going to help me? On there website one of there videos said that the heat sink allowed for much closer placement, "sometime even on the exhaust manifold". So, should I just forget about the 90$ heat sink and move it further down? Also the website says it need to be between the 10 and 2 position.
