ok so i got an LCD monitor and im getting lots of static and the engine noise gets in, i tried tapping into the radio harness and same thing...not sure wat to do...maybe the screen is just crap?

also where would it be best to tap other things such as gauges and such...i have way too many wires and such in the damn dash and glove box.

Whats the best way to clean these wires up?

Its not the power, generally, that causes problems like that, its your ground.

I tapped my gauges into my cig lighter plug, power, and ground. My radar detector as well.

My wideband and maft pro are both off the ecu, and everything else is off the ignition harness.

Make sure all your grounds are bare metal, no paint, or anything like that....

then there's a chance it could be a shity screen with no built in filters :)

as of lately, i've been doing lots of wiring on my car as well as two other supras.

i've decided that for a modified car running lots of add-on electronics, that it's best to run a power source right behind the stereo, driven by a relay that's triggered from the IGN or ACC. there are many choices out there for all sorts of junction blocks. run a good, 10 awg wire straight from the battery, (fused of course) to the block, and ground the other side of it well.

when the relay gets power from IGN or ACC (your choice), the block will become powered, and all your gadgets will turn on. that's what i'll be doing shortly with all the extra electronic garbage i've added to my car. (and will be adding)

Exactly.
On the note, if you prefer to have power on in both key possition (IGN and ACC) but a diode on each line to switch the relay.

ACC ------|>-----\
IGN ------|>------|----- Relay coil +

Because ACC doesn't has power during crank, while IGN doesn't has power in ACC but during cranking. The combination give the relay power when key in ACC, ON, and Start (cranking) position.

If you ask why putting a diode? Well, it there to block power from going to the IGN circuit when the key is in ACC. Without the blocking diode, it could mess up the electrical stuff in the car.

To tap into power, it depends how much of a load you need. Simple stuff like gauges and stuff, I tap right off of the gauge cluster's power.

My LCD screen is tapped off of my radio, as well as my boost controller.

My wideband is tapped off of my wipers. The reason for that, it's a 20A circuit that has little to no load on it all the time.

To clean up wires, if you can solder, cut the wires, and solder them to the exact length needed. A little wire loom over top hides them nicely too.
