Hi,
I'm not very interested in working on my own car anyore. I would rather leave it to the professionals that want to work on cars. However I don't want to take it to some random place that isn't familiar with Supras. I'd prefer to find the best local place with Supra familiar guys. I want the best knowledge and work for my money. I know there are great techs/mechanics everywhere but there's still some Supra-specific info that the standard tech/mechanic might not know and I'd prefer to have the Supra-specific tech working on my Supra.

Can a thread or section be started where we can list the best places to take our Supras?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Last I heard is dm is not doing repairs or swaps anymore.

Heard kaizen is backed up as well.

And my buddy Emad at precision auto workz just got a engineering job so he's not going to be at the shop much.

What are you looking to do? I work at a shop but were mostly general repair.

Why are you saying that hvyman? We work on MK3's daily, and we have several JZ swaps going on right now. I would appreciate you NOT posting anything like that or spreading rumors about my company. We are as busy as we have ever been. I just don't have time to spend on the forums very much anymore. On top of our engine swaps we stock tons of parts for the MK3, MK4, SC, Cressida, etc... We just expanded and doubled our square footage. I have been much more active on Facebook then forums anymore because I can quickly do updates and check on it with my phone.

To be honest I hear there is some real BS going on around the SoCal community lately where I keep hearing about people talking smack and spreading rumors. I don't get involved in lies, rumors or negativity like that. We do good work and we are honest people, that's all I care about. I don't care what everyone else does and I don't disparage other shops to customers.

This isn't all directed at hvyman's comment, I just needed to set the record straight because I am getting tired of the rumors going around.

If you go around telling people we don't do engine swaps or work on cars anymore you are hurting my business. It's not really that I am mad at you, I just want to make sure people know the real story.

Thanks for the responses everyone. This post is already proving to be amazing!

I need a new rack and pinion unit and hoses for power steering. I want to fix the a/c system and convert to r-134 or r-22 (properly and preferrably). I need a completely new exhaust and I need exhaust studs fixed on the head side because one or 2 exhaust bolts are stripped. I need a new brake booster. I need a new dash. I need my drivers side door tweaked because it doesn't close well. Need some automatic transmission troubleshooting. I need some engine troubleshooting done as well. I need wheel bearing or something I hear particular noise from muh wheels. I need lowering springs and new shocks. I need hood shocks. I need my wipers swapped to to universal autozone type finally, LOL! I need so much work done to my supra. I want new fenders, new hood, the core support fixed so the hood can shut perfectly, new door hinges and or new doors (preferrably lighter doors...) and I do need to get it painted. I also want new bushings, ball joints, and whatever other little things like that that can turn this 170k mile supra back into a new feeling car. =)

I'm at the point where Either I buy a car for $3000 or I put $3000 into my baby. I would rather fix up the supra and sell it later in great condition even if I only get back 1/2 what I put into it now. I have been searching craigslist for a nice car and planned to give my supra away to one of my friends that loves supra's and cressidas but then he'd be getting a hoopty and that does the supra no justice.

Right now in my life I'm too lazy and would rather pay someone who WANTS to do the work. =) I am able to do a lot of the work it needs but I'd be so much happier paying someone who knows how to do the work perfectly and can do it quickly. I am unable to get work done quickly so my satisfaction of working on cars is low. However I have the money and need to get this baby some long overdue attention to detail.
I'm expecting to spend at least $1500 on my supra but wont be surprised if I pay $2500+. I need to make sure I'm not wasting any money paying someone who's figuring it out for the first time how things are on a supra.

I think the only thing I want to get from a general shop is the Lifetime alignment offered at Firestone Tires for about $250. =)

Trust Aaron! I have called him dozens of times and ordered a bunch of parts from DM. I trust noone else when it comes to help. If he isn't balls deep in a motor he usually stops what he is doing and helps me on the phone. Great guy and great company. Now if I could just get him to stop turning wrenches long enough to get me some vinyl for my Supra.

What are my options for shipping to Canada from Driftmotion? Anyone ever done it?

Is there an easier way to search the site? I have a hard time comparing things from the big list of parts (I am impressed by the big list, and the prices on it though).

@80083r, check out http://www.driftmotion.com/ and please don't thread jack. :D
I didn't know driftmotion was so close to me! =)

I am taken care of for the purpose of this thread but can this thread some mod attention?
Can a special thread or section be created on "Where to go for the best Supra repair" with some kind of easy maneuvering or searchability to find our own specific areas?

Thanks,
Chris

That would be really great for those of us who don't want to do 100% of their work themselves!

We are backed up with a lot of big projects, but we work on repairs daily. We just finished an oil pan swap on an IS300 that came in at 6pm last night. As Aaron said, there is a lot of negative vives in Cali about shops. I get random people asking me about the Beef with Driftmotion, well I have no beef, I frankly like chicken, but a nice steak from time to time is always tasty. LMAO

We also just moved into a standalone building to make room for our AWD dyno and expansion plans, but we also dont have time to update the forum. Between all the harness work I have lined up, swaps, big builds and adding products to our new site it leaves little time for forum udates.

If you need any work done, send us an email at jose@kaizenmotorsports.com, it's better that way, so anything you want done and prices that are quoted can be remembered. So when ever you need to bring the car in we can reference to it and honor any price we discused. If you call, we talk to many people with many types of cars that its hard to remember pricing.

You guys are lucky out on the left coast to have places like Kaizen and DM. Here in VA there are very few shops I know of or trust for my Supra. I don't know of Va BEach area, but Richmond/Central VA there is almost nothing here. I am, however, VERY FORTUNATE to have Seth Ingham of Sleeper Designs in my hometown to help with rebuilding my car, along with my friend Don (D7MSupra) on other work. The only problem is I've been taxing Seth's time so much with my 2JZ build I don't want him to lose any of his business! Good thing we are nearing the finish line on it as I'm sure he's gotten sick of looking at my car for over a year!

That's why Driftmotion *needs a east cost HQ here in the ATL, WORD UP!

MOds should remove crap posts from shit posters that don't know, You better ask somebody!

Haters will hate, FTW! Driftmotion Rocks all day long with big balls like Donkey Kong!

If you own a MK3, I can tell you this from experience, all roads eventually lead to Driftmotion.

One Love Big A, more orders are on the way.

Nice. Good to know that DM is active in doing Supra work. I'm pretty sure hvyman didn't mean ill by that comment, but I have to say... when I saw it, I just believed it. So what Aaron replied with is true. I was bummed to hear it because I am thinking about a couple things I might need sometime soon and DM was gonna be a strong consideration.

The only major downside for me is that DM is 2 hours away, since I'm in San Diego. But driving 2 hours to have a Supra specialist work on my car sounds worth it to me.
