If you saw my other thread about my gauge reading high, you'll know that I need to use the sensor that came with my gauge. With that being said, where is the best place to put the sensor on the 1jz? I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

Haha, didn't even think I'd get answer like that. Now, that I read the title again, you are 100% IJ.

Ok, if I were to have an AC'd garage and a big screen TV in the background, where on the 1jz would I install the sensor?

Your killing me Ian.

Alright, where on the 1jz engine would I install a water temp sensor if my car were in an air conditioned garage with a big screen tv in the background?

:yelrotflm Well, with your infinite wisdom, I think I'm set to put this bad boy in. ;)

Did they drill/tap a hole, or took the stock one out? BTW, do you know which one on the pipe is the temp sensor?

If it's in the top rad hose it's not going to be accurate till the T Stat opens so I'd install it on the motor side if you can find a place for it.

Are you still using the stock one?

Well, I installed an aftermarket one and I'm using the signal wire from the stock gauge. It is now reading like 270 degree. I was like WTF, so I put the stock one back in to see if it was just the gauge and it was. The stock one read perfect. So, I'm going to use the one that came with the gauge.

Couldn't I just take out the stock sensor and put the one that came with the gauge in? That is if it is the same thread. If not, I could just drill and tap a whole on the upper radiator pipe next to where the stock sensor is and it would read fine? Sorry for all the stupid questions.

You know you were laughing at the treadmill guy.

Personally I don't really care what the temp is, the gauge is more of a comparative tool that you scan while driving.

If it's doing something unusual there's an issue ;)

I just use the stock one as while they may not be super accurate (no numbers) they are fairly reliable and I don't like having redundant gauges.

Having said that put it in the stock hole if you can it's the best spot to get a quick consistant reading.

That's where I put it. Also the boost gauge in the factory spot. I just have to get the oil pressure gauge.
