just was wondering for the new future there is only one muffler shop in town(minute muffler and brake) They carry all of the 2005 ractive muffler lineup and dynomax series mufflers. So a few questions

1.)how restrective is the stock muffler on the turbo's???
2.)Which muffler out of the 2005 ractive lineup would be the best?? does it have to be a 3 inch muffler??? does ractive even have a 3inch muffler???
3.) I may later be upgrading to a full 3 inch system so i would like to transfer this muffler to it, so what are my best choices???
4.)Would changing the muffler casuses and hp gains, extra boost, gas mileage etc.(basiclly the advantages of a changing the mufffler)

Do not get a Ractive muffler, they are garbage.
Honestly, if you want the best, have them order you a burns stainless 3" race muffler.
They are by far the best turbo friendly mufflers out there. Any reputable muffler shop can order burns' products.

just kidding, i know 99% of you guys havemufflers.

3" downpipe to testpipe to 2 glass packs, to a dual tip

i've never heard a more beautiful sound, and it was cheaper than more mufflers are :)

I've read up on tons and tons of peoples horsepower gains from doing a full 3" exhaust from the turbo back(I have that done myself) the advantage besides the 25-35hp gain is that it helps your turbo spool up faster and also adds 1-1.5pds of boost do to less restriction. That is why the hp gain is so high. I noticed a very big difference. The best bang for the buck in my opinion. I bought a full system plus install for around $300. I have a stainless HKS downpipe($80) into a Magnaflow high flow cat($40 Ebay, 90-100 in muffler shops), 3" pipe back to a dual canister muffler($45 Ebay) which has 3" outlets. Look on the Northwest Region at the Burnt orange "88" 89+JDM Tail Supra. Thats my baby.

I've got a 3 inch ractive on my 89 turbo and its sounds damn good to me and everyone thats heard it. Also magnaflow mufflers sound very sweet kinda like a ractive and they are both deep sounding. But i guess thats just my opinion.

1: Very
2: Neither, yes, probably not
3: I say wait and go with a full 3" system from the turbo back. A 3" muffler and a very restrictive turbo elbow, dp, 2 cats and not to mention 2 1/2" piping won't do squat for performance, extra boost or gas miliage.

1. pretty restrictive
2. dont know. never heard of this company but as long as its 3' in 3' out and is straight through i dont see an issue minus noise
3. cooleeze makes a DIY exhaust 3' pipes iirc that you can do and transfer your 3' muffler over
4. yes to all. ease of flow out will help things alot. quicker spool and less work for the motor helps also. my bro gets only like 22 mpg on the highway with his stock exhaust and i can get 26ish with my full 3in.

theres the same post i gave u over on sf...

Here is another question that fall along these lines. Does anyone know of a good high flow resonator? Straight through exhausts can get noisy and make an anoing drone while cruising (don't get me wrong, they sound great when you go WOT). A good resonator should help with this.

see this is why i went with my hks super drager exhaust, you dont have problems with fitment, you know what its going to sound like, and you know its going to flow well. i understand people are on a budget but still, do things right the first time or next well be seeing you back here going "well i only made xxx whp but i have the same mods as so and so" the reason u dont make the same power is 1. car and 2. you went with a crappy design to try and save a few bucks. /rant off

my 2 psi

I just know I like my set up; you probably won't :p
I have both cats, then custom piping that is welded to a glass pack muffler, then exits to a pipe & a dual tip.
I love the sound of my car. It sounds deep & mellow. I guess my cats absorb all the sound because without a resonator or muffler, my car is still on the quiet side. On my car, all you see is the dual tip coming out, the muffler is more towards the middle of the car than other set ups. I also seem to have a higher clearance than others have. I can't have it catching speed bumps you know;)
But then again, my car was not set up for insane hp numbers either.

I dont know what "model" it is. I think they only have one 3" in 2 x 2.5" out muffler w/ a straight through design but it comes in different lengths.

I think I saw it on the Magnaflow site. Did you have to put tips on it? If so, do you know what kind? Also how long is your muffler?

Sorry about all the questions, I just really like the look of your exhaust.

I bought the tips at Farm & Fleet. They are some off-brand and I think I saw them at autozone too. I do not know how long the muffler is and I cannot measure it because I am at school and the car is not. Sorry.
