Alright. I have 4 gauges to install and I want to make sure I am placing them in the correct place.

Well here is what I have:

Water temp
Oil Temp
Fuel pressure
Boost

Water temp should I put that in place of the BVSV? I have a fuel cell and no longer will use the BVSV anymore, plus it broke.. the two nipples.. whoops :biglaugh: Now would that be a good location?

Oil temp Gauge would I want that in the oil pan at the bottom near the bottom..*

Fuel pressure I would like to tap in a hole for it, many people.. use the Cold Start Injector hole, I could do that but I like nice start ups:cool:

Boost, yeah I can tap that into the intake manifold, or a vacuum line.

Anyhow if I have anything wrong here or you have a better idea let me know I am open to anything, I just want the most accurate readings, thank you.

Water temp you can replace the stock sending unit with, unless you want to keep it, then BVSV would work fine. Its on the back side of the thermostat, so your fine, and will get an accurate reading.

Oil pressure is simple. Either T the stock Oil pressure sending unit, replace it with the aftermarket one, or put it in the spare hole by the power steering pump.

Boost is even more simple, cause you can run it off the rear where your vaccume line comes out for the heater bypass hose, and the boost and CC T. Just T into it somewhere and you will be fine.

And fuel pressure I always see run in with an AFPR. And that is normally on the AFPR body.

Those are the standards I tend to see.

I don't have oil pressure ( I have a Oil temp ) :)

Don't I need a coolant temp for the ECU? Also I would Like all dash gauges to work. Unlike most people, I am trying to keep this car interior and exterior Minus suspension and wheels.. stock. I want this car to have serious power, but also all the amenities of a Supra.

The gauges I just got lucky and was on a site at the right time, these go for over 900.00 with everything I have and I can't even find these anymore, and by far these are the best ones ( at least to me, the white face is very nice with green light up ) so I am pretty happy I did get a deal on these, I am wodnering where I will mount them. I am not a fan of pillar gauges, and I do not want to drill into my dash, nor do I want to use double back tape, nor Velcro.

As stubborn:3d_frown: as I am I will have to come up with a solution, and I am sure it will be one of those.

I'm in a bit of the same boat as you in regards to my gauges - I don't wanna cut up my dash! SO I got a 3-gauge DIN slot holder which will do me just fine... but you have 4 gauges :S mebbe just get some installed in the stock locations? people have done that before

Coolant temp in the BVSB location will not be accurate until the t-stat opens up. If you remove the jiggle valve on the t-stat, you will get a faster reading.

The ECU temp sensor is on the water neck...yes, you need it.

The plugged port behind the water pump is in the main oil channel that feeds pretty much all the engine components. A temp sensor there will give you temps before the oil is run through the engine. That port is 1/8" BPT.

BTW - I would go to a full flow thermostat controlled oil cooler. The stock set-up is a pressure bleed by design...oil from the cooler is dumped to the pan. A larger cooler is just about a must when you start shooting for high HP.

If you have an AFPR, I would use an available port on it. You could drill/tap the CSI banjo fitting bolt (head, top center) to 1/8" NPT and get a reading straight from the rail.

Alright you have a good point about the coolant, there the engine has to first warm up before that T-stat open anyhow.

Now I am trying it listen carefully about where to put the oil temp gauge sender.. If you could explain that a little more or have a pic I have a spare block so I can test or see it better thanks.

Don't have a pic...the port is forward of the stock oil pressure sensor and aft of the water pump. Just follow the oil channel that runs the length of the block forward, when you run into the plug fitting per above, that's it.

Or, if you do go to the cooler circuit I suggested, a T fitting in either the feed or return lines from the cooler will work. To the cooler = post motor temps, from the cooler = pre-motor temps (just like the port above).

I think I found what you meant, there is a NPT or w/e after the stock oil pressure sensor correct like 2 1/2 inches? I can hook it up there, I have to figure out all these fittings sizes so I will order a kit, I am sick and tired of guessing so I will learn this way. Also the water temp one I am still looking for a location..

and also you talked about the oil cooler and letting oil go to it with a temp sensor I will have to read more about that still need to understand it.

I was surprised, there is 3 Defi gauges on ebay, I have 4 + a tach so five and those are at 550.00 right now.. wow..

You could always put a sensor fitting adapter in the coolant feed line to the turbo...the line on top of the water neck.

Ahh very good point, I think that is by far a great idea, what about in the coolant tube that wraps around the engine?

Tapping that line would be far more difficult and the sensor would be a PITA to get to if ever need be. Personally, I wouldn't do it...the risk of a leak is far too great and really bad if it happens.

The BVSV location is not bad...if you remove the jiggle valve on the stat like I suggested you will get a bit of flow at all times (not a bad idea anyway). That will only cause a slight delay in readings, and at temps that are well below ops temp. Don't make this too difficult on yourself ;)

I think I am going to be a trader and go on the " dark side " I am going to sell this Supra * or part it out * hope that doesn't happen but it may. I want a MKIV, they hold their value a lot better and I just like the 2jz..

Don't get me wrong I will still buy MKiii's, I still think there better :)
I just want to try something new.

The ideas for the coolant are good though I liked the BVSV, easy route, also the turbo coolant line, I really like that more, for faster result, the jiggle valve is suppose to get air out, but hell it doesn't matter. also the pipe around the motor would be to thin and hard I thought about it.

You also wouldn't be able to see if it was pouring out or leaking really.
