Bearing Clearances

Just doing a quck freshen up of the bottom end while i'm doing the head gasket, measured everything up and basically all of it was within spec. The only issue is everything is at the opposite ends of spec. For my mains I end up with bearing clearances of 2.9 thou and and 2.5 for my rods, which is out of spec...
For those of you that know 7m's, what are the chances it will grenade if I just toss it back together with stock spec stuff. I'm on the fence here, not looking to make enormous power, 400 is the upper limit. (mabe 420-30 if I get greedy) Also not planning on leaving this engine in for the rest of my life, and handing down to my children or anything. When I finally get out of school, and settled down, i'll be building an engine all out, forged everything and whatnot. So this one just has to last untill then.

Its so much cheaper to do it right the first time. Almost .003" is a lot of clearance, and your bearings are a very vital part of your motor, you dont want to put it like that. Your main clearances are way out of spec. Are you testing this with Std size bearings, or Toyota bearings?

Testing using the specs clevite supplies. The mains are deffinatly way out of spec, but what exactly does the tsrm mean when it says limit? as the main clearances are basically dead on that. Also, what difference would I likely see using toyota bearings?

Clevites.... Good stuff. But not for you. They been known to be loose. Get better bearings. Don't cut corners. This one you can't cheat.

Toyota has a selection not a big one. But still. I think 5 sizes. Do some hw. Get your clearences within specs. Specs are specs. Clevites have been around for a long time. But so have 7ms. Mic your components and see what you need to get in spec. Toyota sounds like that's where it might be. Not cheap as some. But why half ass a rebuild?

Mic everything out and use the TSRM to see if your engine falls into different bearing categories. If not you need to re size things to get it to work.
