Bc valve springs must use bc retainers?

I'm wanting to upgrade to bc valve springs (yes I really didn't want to use any bc stuff) I'm also not going to be running some crazy cam in my 7m 264 or = to it. But I would like to know if I must use bc retainers if I use the springs? Thank you:icon_bigg

You don't need BC springs/retainers if you're running BC 264's They only recommend it if you go above 264's. If you don't mind me asking, what's wrong with BC?
Now if you are going to go upgraded springs I believe you should use the appropriate retainers to go with it...I would but that's IMO.

Honestly, like supra1008 said, if you are going to change the springs you may as well change the retainers as well.

Not when the spring retainer combo is $400. Btw stock retainers work just fine. have not started it yet but they fit well.
