I run an optima for the simple reason of not wanting a leaking battery

there are plenty of small batteries that can be used in DD conditions. the 680 is one, though it won't do so well in cold climates. there are plenty of local guys (i.e. here in MI, i.e. semi-cold winters) that run this battery:

in their year round DD cars....w/o issues.
again, choose a battery for YOUR uses....but realize there are always trade-offs....
