stock turbo is good for a while, especially with the few mods you are looking at, at very least I would wait until you have a MHG and ARPs, at the very least.
may want to look at a MAFT Pro setup as an alternative to your planned first mods <except the 550's>, it's pretty pimp.

RE: Lex AFM... search, literally dozens and dozens, probably hundreds of threads asking that question.

Basically the LEX AFM lets in 25% more air than the stock AFM.....and paired with the 550cc injectors which are 25% larger than stock as well........... you can turn up the boost. I noticed you have a walboro pump.....did you bypass the J-tube when you installed it? If not, I would strongly recommend doing so as the walboro will flow more fuel than your line can support. I was going to do the lex afm as well but after reading up on it....I think i will save up for the maft-pro. Just as one of the guys mentioned.....read up on it, and you will find out exactly what you want to do..... Good luck :icon_bigg

so where would fuel cut be on a lexus afm? Also how does a boost controller work with a wastegate? I want to turn the boost up on the stock turbo to see what she can do but I will be upgrading the turbo this spring.

holy shit. were those upgrades planned, or already on the car. cause if they're already on the car, im not sure where the word "budget" fits in to all of that.

That's a lot of shit on that car. Are you absolutely certain all/most of those things are in there? Cuz if that guy was BS you about some of that stuff you'll be for a nasty surprise.

The boost controller keeps the wastegate from opening until a preset point (your selection).
I haven't seen what that down pipe looks like, but if it doesn't have an integrated turbo elbow, buy a new downpipe! Or at least buy SupraSport.com's turbo elbow upgrade.

Sounds like you've got a mean car there buddy ;).

With all of that shit on there I'd say screw the Lex and get MAFT Pro, it's a better option, plus there's tons of ppl on here with it that can help you out with trouble shooting. If you buy the full kit, this will include the boost controller and wideband iirc. It should also save you from taking trips to a dyno to pay someone to tune it for you!

So it seems to me that instead of saving up money and doing your research along the way, you're taking someone's nicely rebuilt car, cheaping out, and wrecking it with a lack of knowledge and cheap parts. Nice!

Sorry, but "on a budget" only will turn out in another beat ass mk3 that hardly runs. Generally with an owner that can do nothing but run off a list of parts they have and brag about how much they think they spent.

Ok 1 ? When did I brag? And yea ok im trying to make it better but yet keep it at a reasonable price? ok so he's done all the BIG crap already is it a sin to try and make it even better? But anyways the turbo has no elbow, it's "integrated" I was thinking about some more power for right now. Then as soon as my taxes come in blam, bigger turbo, maft pro, new lsd, ect.....Im trying to finish the car but not blow all my money so I can keep a roof over my family's head.

Damn, that's some tax returns there, I wish I would get that much back. The LSD alone will cost around 1K, turbo 1500-2500, maft pro 600-800.

Yep, it's been decided, I'm going to work wherever it is you work at!

Well last year I got 5500 back and the old lady should be expecting around 2-3k back. I just want a little bit more power now. Parts can be resold but I hate having my car sit at one point for too long. I always like to change things up for some reason. Maybe I will put it up for winter to do a maft pro and the body work to get it looking good.

As far as quality goes they should all be the same (some may different software versions on them), iirc there are a few members on here that can get them for you for cheaper than you can buy them on the net.
