After not being able to locate what i thought was a boost leak, i brought my car to the shop, they said that my turbo was most likley the issue. its an upgraded ct26 with a 60-1 compresser wheel rebuilt 20k miles ago (this is what the previous owner told me so it could be more) The fins dont apear dammaged and the wheel spins freely anyone know what the issue could be?

what does the car do? do you know if it blows smoke? did you check shaft play? i heard 60-1s aren't reliable, i could be wrong about that one though

ever Since i realized it wasnt making any boost i havnt reved it over 3000 rpms, and it runs smooth no smoke no bogging or nothing it runs pretty good, my idle raises and drops about 150-200 rpms, but that was happening even when it would spool, its like the car runs exactly the same but with barely any boost the only differnce is it runs rich over 3000 rpms im asuming from the lack of air that the turbo would normally be forcing in right about there

Does your car hit fuel cut?

Sometimes boost leaks can be very hard to track down. I had a friend that had a boost leak and it took a couple of hours to track them down, ended up found 3 different leaks. One of them was in the IC.

Your car should not run rich because the turbo is bad, the amount of fuel sent to the engine is dependent on air flow so if its not boosting then your not getting increasing air flow so you should not be getting an excessive amount of gas being dumped in.

Something else is going on here. Boost leak is still number 1 on my list. The best way to check for leaks is to seal both ends of the IC system and fill it with compressed air, then you should be able to find any leaks you may have.

If the shaft spins freely, there is no smoke, and the fins don't appear to be damaged then it's not the turbo.

I think you have a boost leak that you overlooked.

If you weren't a map system, I would say boost leak. (Runs drives fine untill you put pressure into the system) Due to my ignorance with a map system, I don't know if a boost leak would cause this or not.

I had a boost leak on my MAP based system before, motor revved to redline with no power, felt just like N/A.

You're going to want to find the leak BMBA, and don't floor it because you could screw the turbo from overworking it (turbine isn't bypassed by the wastegate causing it to "overboost").
