Is it possible that if your timing is off (retarded) that it would cause to ECU to send a code 52 for the knock sensor?

I got everything running today and my timing is still off, but it threw a 52, and was just wondering if the two are related.

I am gonna adjust my timing today when a friend comes over, but just wondering if I should start addressing the 52 problem yet or not.

Thanks
Brandon

The timing and 52 are unrelated but since there isn't much point in driving the car with a 52 I'd get to fixing it if I were you. And you'd better hope shaeff doesn't see this ;)

Well, I fixed the timing and checked to see if that worked, and of course it didnt, it just retarded my timing 180*. So now on to fixing to the code 52....

I already PMd shaeff about one of his rewire kits, so hopefully he can come through.

I have been driving my car for the past year with a code 52. I did the re-wire and it still didn't work. What damage has been done and what kind of damage could be done? Now that my car is down for the rest of the year, I am trying to locate a harness in good condition.

^^^Not sure about the damage done, all I know is my car drives like it has about 140hp at the wheels.

About the harness you could always buy one new, that is my plan when I get back from Iraq next year.
