There is a speed dependent rotating sound that sounds like it coming from behind the stereo. The sound starts from anywere between 10-20mph and quickens the faster you go. I believe it was changed when the previous owner did a full rebuilt about 6000-7000 miles ago. Is it possible that it went out or is something else? When I had the transmission out a few days ago to do the clutch i felt the pilot bearing and it felt smooth to me. Anyone got an idea?

since its vehicle speed dependent its not the pilot bearing.

could be the driveshaft carrier bearing, or something up front like a loose ball joint or wheel bearing.

If it was speed dependent could it be a throw out bearing? I was thinking that it could be a wheel bearing.

when your driving down a streight road, swerve gently from side to side and see if the noise changes, that will tell if its wheel bearings. i doubt it is though, just disconnect the speedo cable from the tranny and see if it goes away
