JK nobody's dog died. However I did just save $1524 on my car insurance.
I've been paying $2440 for my 00 jetta and my 89 toyota pickup (Basic and glass coverage). After having my business liability insurance with my agent, I began to suspect he was fucking me. Just renewed my policy and was unhappy to see I was going to pay $2440 for another year. A friend suggested that I get an online quote.
So I got a copy of my driving record and started shopping. Found that Progressive was the company that fit my needs. Got similar coverage for both vehicles. (now have to pay $100 deductable, but gained compulsory (fire theft exc.) with a $300 deductable).
How much do you ask? $916! Thats $1524 in savings!!!! Sure enough my agent was fucking me! Gonna go talk to him tomorrow and kick him in the nuts.
PROGRESSIVE FTMFW!!! I should be on a commercial with Flo getting all excited in the virtual store!
Moral of the story, if you think your paying too much go get some online quotes. It could save you rediculous $$$!

Yeah a similar thing happened to me. I had that esurance deal going on, and for some reason, I guess because im 19, fully own my 18 year old car, and have a spotless driving record, they decided to charge me $2400 a year in liability only.

So I got a quote from geico, around $1000 a year for the same exact coverage, so before I switched I called up esurance and told them that, and they said that they would check the policy and see if they made a mistake. So I get a call back the next day, they say that there is no mistake, and that the geico policy was probably a fake just to get me to switch.

So, I switched, and am still paying the $1000, still a lot in my opinion for liability only but its the cheapest I can find. This is for my LS400 not the Supra btw.

Ya, as dumb as those commercials are, they have a point in that you could be paying way too much. You should really check your coverage and shop around. It's amazing how different companies can charge vastly different amounts.

Congrats on the savings!

The supra costs me about $500 a year for liability and uninsured motorist.

I <3 my agent... he shops around for me every 6 months to make sure noone is cheaper. I can't get anyone to touch his prices, as I call just about everyone once a year or so to check rates myself. But honestly, if he was within a few hundred a year, it'd be worth it IMO. He's never questioned anything my mom or dad has turned in over the years, and I'm sure most would have been thrown out by big companies.

Of course when he's a good family friend and my family (mom, dad, me, and my brother) have had 10+ cars/motorcycles insured through him since I turned 16, we also throw business his way anytime insurance comes up in a conversation.

He usually buys the hogs for the hog roast we throw every year. :icon_bigg

I was paying $1400/yr for my Subaru with Arbella, kept thinking that was way too much so when we could use Geico, Progressive, etc.. here in MA, I got a quote.

I ended up paying $274 up front with Progressive for 6 months of coverage. That's all.

Progressive FTMFW here as well :)

I use USAA. It's a bit more exclusive, serving military & family first. I pay about 115 a month on both cars (full coverage) renters and 4K in valuable personal property.
