Backfires when shifting

I have the Lexus 550 setup and a Bosch 110 BOV. My engine occasionally backfires when shifting gears (normal driving), but doesn’t backfire when decellerating while the car is in gear. Would changing the decel setting on my SAFC II at lower rpm help?

have you checked your ignition system?? maybe you have a bad wire or plug or even loose wire somewhere, vacuum leak? Just a thought.

7M ECU's from the factory were pre-setup a little on the rich side to begin with,
So I wouldn't say it's anything too alarming.

Running a Bosch BPV certainly helps...but it'd never hurt to check precautiously.

A minor boost leak commonly seems to be an issue that can creep past people,
And robbing horsepower without them realizing it...So check that first.

:D Same here...I remember mine shot flames when I was boosting up a hill, and the guy behind me was looking at my car like it was an F18 or something. Made me laugh all the way to work.

The reason why your car doesn't backfire while coasting in gear is because a 7m ecu cuts spark and fuel when above a certain rpm when the throttle is closed..like above 1600 rpm or something...so your motor litterally shuts off there for no back fires.

I'm sure jdub can correct me and elaborate but yeah now you know.

My car does it although im venting my BOV to the atmosphere, but i get some mean fireballs out the exhaust when i let off after boosting on and off.

My problem is I am dumping fuel right now to satisfy my engine since the amount of HP I am running. I get some mean fireballs, plus I get like firewaves. Not all the time, but lets just say I shoot one and no one tail-gates me lol
