Just thought I would share my new toys, and say hello to SM since its been a while.....
Long story warning!!
I sold my red 89 a year ago, I owned it for 8 years and never planned on selling it, but I took a job in Dubai and thought I would have no time for it anymore. Well turns out I still get a bit of time in the US so I was missing having something to work on. I thought briefly about a few other cars, namely a MKIV or a RX7 FD LSx, but the MKIII was always my favorite. So I have been looking around for a replacement for the last few months. I wanted a clean 89+ hardtop with no TEMS or ABS. I plan on building a nice street car with the ability to run autocross and track days, so I wanted to start with a light car. A JZ engine was also a plus, but I was planning on swapping one in if needed. So while looking for a car that met my needs I managed to find 2 cars that I can make into the one I want!!
First one is a black 91 targa with a 1JZ, it is still a project but it runs good. Body has a few blemishes and the paint is getting old, the shadow gray interior is all there but its not assembled, and the seats are a lighter gray. I got this car as I have done most of the other engine options, except the 1J, and when you add up the cost of sourcing all the needed parts for a JZ swap, this car made sense.
Second one is a CLEAN silver 91 NA, hardtop, no TEMS or ABS.... This car is nice. Paint is good, no damage, and the cloth shadow gray interior is very clean and just what I wanted. It has a few small needs like a new handbrake, new wheel and the windshield is cracked, but overall it is pretty mint.
So the latest plan is to pull the 7M and drop the 1J into the silver car, get it running good on the stock twins and then do suspension and brakes.... This will be a slow project as I only get a few days a month to play with my toys, so I will post pics along the way.
Anyway enough talk, here's a few pics right after I got them home....
