So I got my new head in that I ordered from a fellow SM member, and it was great packaged fine but to my own mistake I forgot something... well I realized something. The lifter shims are specific to the cam that was in here, right? I have cams, but they arnt gonna work on these lifters are they? He did lable EVERY lifter to its exact spot, no mixups, but Im thinking my cams wont match, am I wrong?

Just use yours if you have them. You just need the shims.

Install them and see. A lot of people who buy from Crower find them to be a direct replacement, with no need to change the shims, or just change one or two.

It's not hard to do, just take a deep breath and hit the "search" over on SF.

Go for it.

As far as the shims go, you'll probably end up needing to buy a couple new ones (often you'll be able to swap positions for at least some of them). The SOGI email list also had a community pile of valve shims floating around -- if you're not in a huge hurry you might subscribe to that list and see if you could borrow it...

When I had my head done I swapped my cams over to a head fresh out of the machine shop. It took over an hour to completely re-shim that head. Such a pain in the ass but it was worth it. I have practically no valvetrain noise compared to others I have listened to. I would say try and swap them straight over but be prepared to change a bunch of shims.
