Hi guys,

I wondering what is an average track time for a 1/8 mile race?

Because I race yesterday in an 1/8 track, and my best run was 9.13 seg., I want to make at least 8.5seg.

NO ¼ Mile Race Track Here

What modification do you suggest, to reduce my time?:1zhelp:

By the way, this is my daily car.

My car Mods, Supra ‘88:

Stock Turbo at 14.5 psi
Hard IC 2.5 pipes
Lex AFM
Apexi SAFC II
550cc injectors
Water injection system
Walbro pump with 12V mod
A/F at wot: 10.3 ~ 11.3 + -
18” wheels,
front 225 tires and back ones 255tires, Faleken tires at 32psi
Full interior
My car weight: 3,792 Lbs.
3” exhaust system with out cat’s
3” cone air filter

Thanks and regards.

i would like to know this info too...

i have VERY similar mods on my car...except im running a maft with gm 3'' maf.

i went to the 1/8th the other night and the best i could run was a 10.0. (untuned with burned up spark plugs and 7psi).

i will be going back soon, and ill let you know what i run.

I would like to hear some other car's times as well...

you need some tuning. and then and most important work on your launch technique and/or get some drag tires. 18" wheels and low profile tires arent very good for drag racing.

at that weight and with the stock turbo 8.5 is gonna be hard to get.

with an upgraded ct26 it would be doable.

My best time so far is 8.73 at 87.77 mph with 7mgte with a few upgrades and drag radials, but I still spun a good bit.

First off, take your boost down to 13 psi. You said stock CT-26 so at 14.5 you are just blowing hot air with anything past 13 psi. Get it tuned like mentioned earlier, and weight reduction on the front end side, you want to keep your weight in the back to help you hook up. Take out your driver seat and replace it with the passenger side. Lower the psi some on the back tires when you go to the track and over inflate the fronts so you'll get a little better tracking and less surface aread touching up front.

youll still make more power with 14.5 psi over 13..

^ I feel for his turbo :(.

Why?

I have over 100 full power 20 psi passes on my stock ct and it still is in perfect shape. I did something like 35 passes at 20 psi in two days at tx2k7.

With a little help from some NO2, my stock ct with stock intercooler at 20psi did 7.67 at 91mph in the 1/8 mile.

On my car, there was a 40 hp diffrence between 13 psi and 20psi

40 hp for 7 psi says its going past its efficiency. sure its making more power but def not in its ideal range. esp w/ the pressure drop of the stock ic that turbo has to be screaming. im sure the cooling effect of the nitrous helps quite a bit.

but in the world of drag racing, 40hp is 40hp and youve made quite impressive times w/ your setup. i just wouldnt recommend it to everyone since its outside of its efficiency range and def not optimal for longetivity.

drag radials will be great for your times

If you are on the stock IC, upgrade ASAP.

If your air filter is OPEN in the engine bay, get some kind of heat shield or move to a cold air intake. These 1/8th mile runs leave you hot soaking in line quite a bit.

Post your time slips. You don't get much time to catch up on the 1/8th, so traction and cool intake temps are everything.

only 3 of the over 100 passes was with nitrous. I don't ever recommend running a stock turbo like I do mine. But my turbo is my turbo, and I don't care about how efficient 20psi is. I just care about making a stock ct run some real times.:biglaugh:

Has your turbo been rebuilt to stock specs? I wish my CT-26 would be able to hold up to abuse like that ;).

Cold air intakes have little to no effect on turbo cars. As soon as the air hits the turbo, it heats right up to the same temp either way. If you're worried about hot air look to the intercooling system for upgrades. I'm not trying to put you down. This is just what I've read out of a book called Maximum Boost. Great book for any turbo guy.
