Keep in mind that anything other than the CT upgrades are not really bolt on units. You will still end up having to fab your own oil lines, and in some cases the water lines as well. Even the ones that don't use water cooling, you'll still need to deal with the water lines from the engine side.

You'll also have to fab something to mount the dipstick to. And chances are the accordion hose won't fit over the compressor side intake.

Bottom line - 'bolt on' turbos aren't really that much more convenient that units with full external wastegates, IMO. I wouldn't buy another bolt on unless it was an upgraded CT.

thanks guys for all the replies. i already made up my decision as it seems like the best spool up time i will get is with a ct26. i just rebuilt my 60 trim, and im buying a 57 trim for more reliability. power goals is 350-400 which should be easily obtained with the lex maf, 560 densos, and mkiv tt pump, and of course a tune.

^^^Good choice, I ran a 57 trim CT26 for a few years and loved it! It made 378 rwhp at 15 psi and spooled almost immediately. Its a very streetable turbo. Keep in mind though, that with the mods you listed above, you dont have anything to tune with. So unless you forgot to mention it, you will need some sort of piggy back. I used the Apexi SAFC unit and had good results. Its a very easy piggyback to understand and with out something to tune with, going to the dyno is pretty pointless.

Haha I was just listing the additional parts I need. I already have an afc neo onboard, I forgot that I still need to get a wideband though.

I didn't want to go past 16psi for my goals, so what else can I do to stay around 14 psi and still be able to hit around 375-425 on pump gas (91) I also have a 60 trim which I just rebuilt but to daily that seems unreasonable. I also know someone who hit just over 400whp with aem ems, but I'm not looking to go standalone just yet, if I do.

Whats unreasonabke about the 60 trim? Yes there not as reliable as a 57 but its not like its going to die over night. Usually at least. You should have enough time to either find a replacement or a temp to get it rebuilt.

well i have two stock ct25's ready to go if i ever need to switch out the 60trim. this is not the 60-1, just 60 trim. so i may play around with it. see what i can get out of, and just switch up with the 57 if need to be.

reason why i say unreasonable, is just the fact its less reliable. not saying its not worth it or anything. btw how long can 60trims usually last for untill it needs a new rebuild? and i know it all depends, but im saying like safely boosting below 16psi, and not always mashing on the gas.

This is where my final tally is to be. I have the defunct Boss Jr 57. Maybe you could get a used one. I thought somebody with one was selling his, and going 2JZ. And while I won't fully speak since I don't have it, the users of these have been pleased. A 60-1 upgrade will do it easily. I stayed away when Grimjack indicated issues with traction when it came online. That was too much for me.

sorry that you misunderstood. im not looking for a turbo to hit those goals anymore. im looking to hit those goals with the 57 or 60 trim. reason being? stock look and quick spool. i also wouldnt like to go any bigger than the 60 trim (so that eliminates the 60-1 and the 67r)

67 ct will blow up fast.

IF you never boost the 60 trim will last forever. No one can say it will last x amount of time.

That is why I suggested those. Sorry, I wasn't suggesting a 60-1, just saying it would do it easy. Make sure you have a build thread.

yeah theres just too many variables that play a role. in anycase, used the same way, the 60 trim wont last as long as the 57. by how much, cant really say.

Oh thats crazy, might have seen that a while ago. Either way seems like a waste of time esp since it has a ceramic turbine.

The MR2/Celica guys are reporting very low failure rates with this turbo even at ~22 psi. If it does blow it might hurt the cat but a ct26 turbine can be used as a replacement.

More..
