it's very nice, my mom's 94 GS300 has automatic headlights..

the sensor for them looks just like the sensors we have on the corners of the dash...

I always liked the idea, but figured it's not really needed...

I dunno, something that functions automatically scares the hell outta me....."O hey its dark" *head lights up* and the noise from the motors coming on without me doing anything....creepy. LOL maybe its just me.

Cars with flip-up lights don't have these from the factory because if there was something (such as ice) holding them down it could damage the housing or motors.

^^ not to mention, driving on a shady road with lots of trees ect. would be super annoying.
in the shade = UP then hit the sun = DOWN over and over and over. lol. well I guess he said it could be switched off didn't he?

Erm - dunno about over there, but lights on the first extent = sidelights only, the mains dont pop up unless you select the second extent, although they stay up if you later switch them back to the first extent.

I doubt shade would be an issue, theres still plenty of ambient light around to keep it from switching over.

We have 4 positions for our headlights: if you start with the headlights off, then the 2nd. position does nothing, 3rd turns on the taillights/parking lights and any interior lights (gauge cluster, glove box when opened), and the 4th turns on the headlights...

If you start with the headlights on, then moving into the 2nd position leaves the headlights up, but not on...

This is to service the headlights without having to disonnect the battery...
