Auto trans wiring harness on a 5 speed...

Ok, so I ditched my hacked up wiring harness for a "new to me" one... Never realized there was a big difference in the auto vs. 5sp harnesses until today... Well, I knew there was, but figured it was in the end that goes to the ECUs... Today I put my tranny in, I go to plug up the clips, and none match... The harness has several plugs, where as my tranny has 2... The speed sensor (???) and the reverse lights plug... Is there any way to hard wire these? My speed sensor plug has 3 wires, my reverse lights have two...

it should still have the abs plug.. Dont know which is for the reverse lights though..

Well, on my old wiring harness, they had cut the wires and were using "male/female? plugs for the reverse lights... For the first 6 months I onwed the car, I didnt have reverse lights, and when I was swappin the LSD on the lift, I was like, hey, these are unplugged... I plugged them in and I had reverse...

As for the ABS... :dunno: My tranny has two sensors with wires, the reverse, and I think its the speed sensor... But my wiring harness has no match for either... wtf?

Jeez, someone has to know how to hard wire these... How many of you guys have done auto-5sp swaps? How do you get around this harness issue?

lol, I have NO idea. electricals are my WORST subject and apparently thats saying something cause its been pointed out Im obviously deficient in other areas...

Jake it seems to me the first thing to do would be to identify the wires/colors in the TEWD, and kinda go from there, but I figured you thought of that. So basically Im here to go :dunno: with you.

You really need to check out teh Supraforums FAQ section

You just have to jump out two wires on one connector to get the car to run(bypass nuetral safety switch). The reverse lights are in there too.

Thanks JR, appreciate the link... I hardly spend time on SF though... That thread was informative, but the only thing is, I dont have a plug on my harness that matches up to my ABS(?) Speed sensor on my tranny... It doesnt make sense to me... I need to check my old harness... I wonder if they gave me the wrong sensor back...
