Zumtizzle is yours like pic 1 or pic 2 as far as the plugs go (grey or the clearish ones), the old one has 1 plug on the tail shaft well the new one has two plugs (two different sensors).

IJ are you meaning the a341 has no kick down cable (cable running from driver side of trans up to the throttle linkage)? If so both have a kick down or pressure cable on them.

here i'll go out to my garage and get pics for you.

Okay I went out to the garage for nothing.

The second pic is most def a JZ Trans, it's more electronic. ;)

Are the bell housings the same?

The transmissions look identical (bell housing appears to be the same). The old trans and new trans have that rear abs sensor and my plugs look more like yours instead of the rectangular grey ones found on the new transmission. Most sensors you can swap but the plug on the driver side of the transmission has way more wires for it going into the transmission.

Here are some more pics of the transmissions. Notice that there is no slot for the speedo.

I am adding to this thead, rather then going off topic in a different thread.

In my 91T Auto, I put the A341 from a JZA70. All of the electrical connectors bolted right up, and the kickdown cable fit perfectly. The level checking dipstick doesn't fit perfectly, but it works.

The converter is slightly larger, different splines. The only difference that I can find is the 2 pin sensor connector on the left side, which I thought was the manual switch related to the electronics.

Interestingly, I just got an Aristo transmission and it has a temperature sensor built into the line input via an adapter. I wonder if we could retrofit that adapter for "stock like" measure of the trans temp.

from the outside how can you really tell if it is a turbo or na. I just bought a trans for myswap. The markings on the trans said 7mgte...tt. dont know what that means but the guy at the place said it was for a turbo. The little blue plate said 30-40 le....theres nothing on that trans that says A340 or so. So really, how can one tell which trans from which from the outside. I dont really want to know if this one was for a NA, because i wanted one for my turbo swap. lol

I picked up another transmission to play with.

Tag shows 30-40LS. 98+ 2JZGE VVTI, also appears to be the same transmission used in the 1JZGTE VVTI Auto.

No kickdown cable, no port for mechanical speedo. The wiring looks the same as the Aristo one, except that the valve body connector has 10 pins instead of 8. I have the full wiring harness and ECU for this one, so I'll be able to report what those extra pins do.

Tail shaft is the same as MK3, the driveshaft goes right in. This is convenient. Hopefully I can make it work, but I'll have to convert to digital speedo.
