HEY! Perfect. :)

I have an 88 Turbo Auto.
My Auto blew out on me.
I got an A340E from an 89 Auto.

Sounds EXACTLY like you, eh? ;)

Anyways, yes, it goes right in and no you don't have to splice any wires.
Although, I'm pretty sure that in 89, the shift points changed because when I got the tranny into my car, the shift points were CRAZY. It was so weird...took forever to get used to. But to answer your question, you'll be able to swap it in and out with no problem. :)

Have any problems, let me know.

Jeff

A 14mm ratcheting wrench will save you a ton of time with the 2 top bolts behind the engine. You can also disconnect the EGR and heater hose which helps alot, but youll need to drain all the coolant and have new gaskets for the EGR if you do that.

saif.. there is like 2 bolts that are a pain in the fukin ass. like seriously. i forogt weather it was top or bottom but man there a bitch. i think there like right behind the head and u have to snake up there.. lol i remember we started at noon and we wanted to go to woodward that friday. we where there by 9:)
so it isnt hard but those bolts and re aligning it too. you need liek two jacks and 2 2x4's and jack it up level. its alot easier.

Don't forget to put in your write up that the most important part of swaping an auto is the new hight stall converter you should put in instead of the worthless stock one.

One other thing you might want to check...there are two versions of the speed sensor on the drivers side tranny tail. Pretty sure it's split from the '87-'88 to the '89 up. When I had mine built, it had a sensor with it, so I installed as is...plugged right up. Got a tranny ECU code (O/D light blinking)...swapped the sensor from my old '89 tranny and all was well.
