"Metal Cap?" ... I never ran into problems with some "Metal Cap" when I did my car. If you can't squeeze the tranny in, then tilt the front end of the motor back with a jack. That'll free up some room. Also, pictures can say a lot more when you don't know exactly what it is your talking about.

Toyota won't be able to do much without you throwing some $$$ their way. Why be so negative about my reply? I tend to be sarcastic when people don't read the stickes about posting before they post. As far as this "Metal Cap" goes, where is it on the transmission? Does it have a connector coming out of it? Why do I have to ask these questions when you should try to describe it as throughly as possible, because a "Metal Cap" can be just about anything on a car made damn near entirely of metal. I want to help you, but I can't help you if you don't help me understand.

Have you removed any caps that look anything like this?

Removing too many of these can definitely cause a problem with a tranny swap. :biglaugh:

you know on an automatic block when you take the flywheel off theres 6 bolts that ahve to come off correct. then theres a little plate thats comes off with the flywheel in the center of where the bolts come off where if you doing the conversion the pilot bearing is supposed to go theres what it seems to be a metel round circle thats seems to be some sort of cap or something im not sure i've never seen it before but im thinking theres a special tool that i need to get this thing off because if not i cant hook up my trans because thers no place for it to attach to. its hard to describe but like i said its sits right in the middle of where the bolts are for the flywheel. thanks for your help

I hope he drained the coolant first :<. We will hear back from a wet angry man if he didn't know what freeze plug was and just drilled into it.

how deep is the hole on the back of the crank? i have one that i can reference for you.

there is a freeze plug on the back of the block, but from the sounds of it, your talking about some one put a dish style freeze plug into the snout of the crank shaft to keep pressure on the torque convertor??
