Has anyone managed to replace the metal lines from the auto box leading to the auto tranny cooler?

basically mine look quite rotten and as i posted recently ive been experiencing a smell of burning atf even after short journeys. im wondering if they have become porous and are misting fluid onto the exhaust which is in turn burning off.

I have looked underneath and the exhaust looks clean with no staining to be seen as such. though the box was pretty well coated in some form of leaked out oil. I wiped as much of as i could. the fluid level last time i checked was fine. though that was a few weeks ago. Would the box itself get hot enough to burn off fluid? or am i aiming in the right direction with the cooler lines?

sounds like a good time to swap a 5spd :icon_bigg

try looking at the lines and following the lines? maybee cracked and it drips straight through to the ground, only when running?

check around where the seals of the transmission are, like the rear section where the propeller shaft is, or up front where the torque converter is, the drain plug could be loose, or the pan itself could be leaking....also try where the dip stick goes in the transmission....just a thought:]....if you still can't find it....take a piece of cardboard and slide underneath the whole transmission and if it is leaking, it will leak upon the cardboard and you can find the general location of the leak:]

hmm aye good idea dude, ill give it a shot when the weather forecast is less windy, see if anything shows up. as you say may point me in the general direction. I see no leaks usually though. but having said that i never really get to park in the same place too often. what ill do is try and give it a good run of a few miles and then park it up and see what happens. I might even see if i can get a big box from something at work and weight it down with bricks at the back and use the front wheels to weigh it down at the front end
