Auto and 5spd starter difference?

Is their a difference between the auto and 5spd starters? Enough of a difference that one will not work on the other? Specifically a GE auto starter on a GTE 5spd. I'm doing my conversion, and the GTE starter I have is bad. Let me know guys.

Never heard of a difference between them.
(using an 86.5 NA W58 starter on my now Auto trans)

hell even the 5M uses the same starter....

Later years are easier to install though (instead of a bolt and nut, it's just a bolt as the starter body is threaded)

Really any Supra starter should work for you. Best bet is one from a 91-92.

im not sure but i use an auto for my old supra and it work fine, just dont need to press in the clutch to start the car like the 5spd. but bout the year, im not sure of it.

yep you're fine, Im using my GE auto starter on my GTE 5spd.
