Well it all started cuz I suspected one of my fuel injectors to be leaking. Been smelling a gas smell ever since I bought the car. Then one day I heard a hissing noise as I was walking away from my car and went to inspect. Sure enough fuel was coming from the 3rd injector from the left.

Today decided to take a gander at doing this repair myself for the first time. Helping me would be my buddy Mike that knows car stuff about as much as i do lol. From the little knowledge I have I think I have done a pretty good job thus far as far as removal. Only mistake I made was losing 1 of the Fuel return hose banjo bolt washers. (have yet to find)

Ran into a problem getting the Pulsation dampener off for I did not have the wrench needed at my house so He and I had to postpone our little adventure till we found the right size. We found a 13/16 wrench to fit good ( dunno if thats the exact size or not).

After that was off the fuel rail was soon to follow hehe. Found out that the third injector I had suspected did indeed have a blown o-ring. So cleaned what I could and am going to send injectors off for cleaning since I might as well now.

Had to stop for the day since I didnt know what all is needed for installation. But have compiled a shopping list.
1. two fuel return hose banjo bolt sealing washers
2. two pulsation dampener fuel delivery pipe banjo bolt washers
3. throttle body gasket
4. gasket sealant (dunno if can use or not)
5. six injector to manifold insulators
6. buy my own 13/16 combo wrench lol

Sorry for such a long post. Just wanted to share my little adventure with yall.

well i assumed it was metric just gotta use what you got....but that 13/16 fit pretty damn good....of course the worst part is to come....getting everything on properly and running right...not too hard but not too easy

Next time you remove the fuel injectors, just undo the fuel rail bolts and pull out the rail a little. It should give you enough space to just pull out the injectors from under the rail.

x2, you don't need to take off the pulsation damper!!

lol I tried that....they wasnt going to come out that way....they were too tight in the rail....plus without moving the dampener I couldnt get enough clearance on the right side to do anything

if i were you i would buy yourself a nice set of metric combo wrenches and if you have the extra money, a set of metric ratcheting wrenches (come in handy for those tight hard to reach areas). every time i mess with the fuels system, i replace every washer, seals and o-ring that has been removed.
once you have everything you need, assembly should be straight forward as long as you remember where everything goes. in my experience, there is no real mystery to the fuel system, so everything should run properly.
my only suggestion would to make sure not to overtighten any fittings that fuel run through, last thing you want is to strip or even break one of those

when you reinstall, after you tighten the rail make sure you can rotate the injectors in there seats, if you cant something is jammed. also use some white lithium grease or Vaseline or something of that sort on the o-rings for installation (just enough to lube them, no globs), and they can/will fight with you a little when you try to seat them.

Just use some petroleum jelly on the o-rings, it will vanish immediately when gasoline touches it and it is easy to get.

I have metric combo wrenches and ratcheting wrenches. My combo wrenches came in an 800 piece craftsman starter set. My racheting I bought off to the side. I just dont have anything between 21mm-26mm I believe. Just gonna start buying more tools while I fix this car up. Thanks for the info.

Just a quick question though. The sealant washers that I took off, are they the same as just any washer I can buy from home depot? or are they like specialty?

Pretty sure you are talking about the small brownish gold looking ones... those are brass if I am not mistaken, and yes, they seem to be a specialty item, but they are inexpensive.

yeah those are copper crush washers. always replace those, and get the correct metric sized ones or it will leak.

best tool for the fpr and fpd is a crows foot. pretty sure its a 22mm

It's a good idea to replace all the injector orings and seals at the same time. To keep you from having to go back in.
