So yesterday the bf and I were driving to Harrison Hot Springs to visit Emil's parents (emil = friend of bf). Anyway, so we get there, start talking and all of a sudden she asks me what time I was born and other stuff, explaining to me that her husband is doing astrology stuff (astrology... not something I understand but its based on the sun, moon and the planets... It shows the position of the Sun, the Moon, and planets at the precise moment of your birth. The planets are frozen in their position at that initial moment of birth. That is why this type of horoscope is known as the birth chart or the natal chart) So I gave them every info they needed and he worked it out.

I always wanted to do that, so I was quite happy and damn curious. Also he does not know me at all... he doesn't know what kinda person I am etc...

After a while he came back, telling us what he found out about me. The first thing he said was something like "It looks like you are a loner..." ... :eek2: ... yes, sir, I am. Then he goes on... saying things like intuitive, having dreams that might come true... even some sort of visions... :eek2: ... yes sir, that's true too. He mentioned artistic talent, drawing, painting... also language stuff... yeah, I like that. Well, he said much more... and he was right... every damn little thing he told me was right!!!! :eek2:

Again, he doesn't know me... I just gave him my name, birthdate, birthtime and the city I was born in. So that was pretty damn cool.

But it wasn't everything... he also does numerology. numerology is the study of numbers, and the occult manner in which they reflect certain aptitudes and character tendencies, as an integral part of the cosmic plan. Each letter has a numeric value that provides a related cosmic vibration. The sum of the numbers in your birth date and the sum of value derived from the letters in the name provide an interrelation of vibrations. These numbers show a great deal about character, purpose in life, what motivates, and where talents may lie.

So we did that too... once with my first name Isabel and with my nickname Bella... the results from Isabel... well, that's just me... seriously... I read it and it's like "Oh yeah, I'm like that"!!! The results for Bella are pretty much the same. Only 2 (out of 8-10) numbers/ meanings are different. And even those explanations are pretty close... you can always find one or 2 sentences and be like "Oh damn, that's true".

So yeah, I was damn surprised... it's a damn cool thing.

Oh, I almost forgot... I asked him if something was supposed "to happen" on october 8th, the day I was supposed to leave canada and go back to germany... but I didn't go cos I had a VERY VERY bad feeling about flying and planes and all that (call me crazy if you like but if there is something I trust... its my gut and intuition... it was right before). so he looked at it, found something interesting, looked it up in a book and told me that on that day the chances of injuries, accidents and even death were higher than usual/ normal. :eek2: So, to be honest, I'm glad I didn't leave.

what he told me wasnt' vague information, what he told me were facts!!! about me... things he didn't know... can't know. shit, it's the second time I actually met them.

i'm not saying you have to believe... but maybe you should try it and see what result you get and if it doesn't sound like you at all, fine... then don't "believe"... but if it's "you"... well, i'm curious what you would say then.

astrology and numerolgy are based on math formulas... it's not something you can make up... its plain and simple math.

What he means about vague facts are things that can be deduced by a combination of simple things about a person.
It's the same way that you read one of those birthday books where you read the page that talks all about your birthday and pretty much all of it applies to you, but there are a few things that just apply by coincidence and not very strongly.
It's the same way I had a telemarketer ask if I was Irish "because they kinda got that feeling" - that feeling from the information they were provided about me to get me on "their list".
It's the same way Miss Cleo, Kenny Kingston, LaToya Jackson and a slew of other "real" psychics made money through tele-marketing.

It's neat stuff, but what is even MORE neat is when you meet a girl who is a "loner", out of country and prone to go wild on her vacation at the Hot Springs, you take her under your wing and tell her a bunch of interesting thing about her, things that are mystical sounding to gain her interest, and then you close the deal before she goes home to her boyfriend in another country.

I hate to break it to you, but that's what it sounds like. That's how guys work. Maybe, MAYBE that wasn't it, but I have to tell you that gullibility can drop panties almost as fast as money and power.

I'm not going to say this guy is full of shit, but, there are people out there that can read body language really well, and when you speak they can pick up on certain things, so with the combined horoscope and body/speaking he can gather infomation and give what he knows.

what the hell...?!?!?!?!

D34DC311: i understand what you are saying but... as i've said, that's the second time i met those guys, and they dont know anything about me... shit, i barely talked to them... and when we were talking it was about different things... cars, politics etc blabla...
also you might want to explain to me how someone can tell you that you have "dreams that come true" just by your body language....

I thought you were talking about Emil, not the parents.

Seriously though, I have dreams that come true - usually I won't remember the dream until it happens, and I'll get that really eerie feeling come over my body. It makes my skin crawl. I also dream in color and sound - I don't know if that's common or not, but it's always in color, and sometimes I can hear things. I think everyone has this strange little bit of precognition. Some say it's special - well I don't think so. Still, as I said, it's neat stuff.

ok then... :)

well, i think lots of people have deja-vus... but i think most of them dont know where the deja-vu feeling is coming from... so i guess in this way its a common thing.
but yeah, i usually dream about something, then i wake up and its all rather blurry (very rare that i actually remember my dreams) and then you remember it when it happens... so IMO that's rather special, unique.
i also have a veeeeeery good intuition...

well, how about that... i go and ask him if he wants to do the numerology thing for a few other people too, if he says yes, i'll let you guys know and everyone who's interested can drop me a pm with full name, birthdate, birthtime and the city you were born in and then we will see how good it is...?!?!?!
i have to ask first tho... :)

its a skill, palm readers, they have this skill that can gather information by the way you greet, talk, walk, everything you do that you dont notice you do. then they go and match that with say and astrological chart and bam. you got a horoscope. im not saying it isnt true i believe in "horoscopes" but not all that bullshit that comes on TV. you know the guy that could talk with the dead, that was just funny.

alright, i'll bite again. this is a horoscope:

You may start to feel uncertain about your personal life if things haven't been going according to plan. Someone is probably keeping secrets from you. Get to the bottom of the problem before it's too late. Question your own motives.

After reading that, your gut instinct is to think 'well that must be about me, where does that fit in with me' and you will think about everything about you that might be able to fit the horoscope. The more general and vague the horoscope is, the easier it is for the public to read it and think 'wow that totally fits me'.

Now, the more specific the information is the harder it is to find 'hits', but when you do the person receiving the information thinks the only explanation is The Power Of The Stars. Your brain is trying so hard to make what someone tells you fit, so you don't notice the countless times when they tell you something that is completely wrong and you just set it aside, waiting for the next statement about you.

But this all goes back to my original statement, you will without a doubt come to the conclusion that you want to believe no matter what anyone else says. If I think my POS fiat is the greatest car in the world, no amount of convincing from other people will change my mind. If you are absolutely certain that people get all their personality traits based on when and where they were born, no argument I can make will change your mind because you want to believe it.

edit - i wrote that before i saw D34DC311's post

your opinions are based on horoscopes you find in newspapers and vague info and dumbasses on tv that claim they can do this and that etc blabla...
horoscopes are made for everyone out there... there is no specific you. you have your zodiac sign and you get the info for that sign... but that whole astrology chart is your specific birthdate, birthtime, birthplace... its not like "oh you were born in august, so you have that kinda skills and that kinda personality".

but anyways, maybe i WANT to believe in whatever people tell me... but if some random stranger comes up to me and tells me this and that.... things, feelings, facts I don't even tell my closest friends... well, it makes me think and stuff...

but its ok, not to believe.

all i can basically say is... try it and be a little bit more open... astrology is not guessing or making things up. well, on tv it is :p
