I agree that everyone should search, but if you can help someone, then why would you not? Are we all suppose to be smartasses and not answer any questions on here? Some questions have been covered numerous times and people probably get tired of answering them, but I didn't think this was one of them. I try to help as much as I can, but unfortunately, I'm not one of the smart guys on here.

Yea I do admit that was a bit of an asshole comment, but searching for that kind of topic DOES yield a fairly large amount of results.

Although it seems like being an asshole and I do like to help out, there is already a WEALTH of information on this forum and it takes little effort to find, just trying to encourage that effort.

And on a seperate note.

The more assembly lube the better. Pack your oil pump full of it. (after making sure its clean of any debris left from manufacturing)

I used Lucas, the only thing it's good for :biglaugh:
You don't need to douse the engine with the stuff though, just on all moving parts, the inside of bearings, thrust washers, you can pack the oil pump, etc... it should be pretty obvious when to use it, you don't need any for the cylinder walls

Lucas is great for rod and main bearings. I've used it on several engines with great results. My machine shop... who happens to also build 5000 hp all aluminum pro mod big blocks also uses this. I don't see a problem.

no, do not put anything on the back side of the bearings? Why would you lube something that you DON'T want to move? That raises the risk of spinning a bearing, and changes your clearances.

What about to keep a block looking nice and shiny like the one you have in your avatar? That's one clean looking engine. You could eat off of that surface. Is it best just to use like a light coat WD-40 to keep the surfaces rust free during a long assembly process? BTW, how did you get all of your passages to look so clean. Your block is so clean it looks like a fresh cast.
