A little update. I've completed the switch to Aristo ECU. Took the car for a Sunday drive. Definitely notice the difference. Car runs much more responsive outside boost. I took it to 14 lbs of boost and the shit just went nuts, wheels spun at 3rd gear had to back it out. I was able to fine tune the SAFC on this boost with less fuel correction than the stock 1jz ecu. Next test drive take it to 18 lbs of boost and see what it does.

BTW, big props to Dr Tweak for his PNP adapter harness and thanks to Tissimo for the help and convincing me to switch. :biglaugh:

Do you have some way to bypass the boost cut? My Aristo ECU cuts when you get into the 15+ psi range for more than a second or two. Just giving you a heads up if you happen to run into any problems, sounds good so far!

No problems here. I can get to 18 psi with no boost cut. What is your base fuel pressure set at and also are you running 1j/2j map sensor?

The stock aristos boost cut is 15 psi like mentioned. If you have bigger injectors and are scaling back the MAP signal then boost cut will be higher.

JPs, IIRC your car had 550s, but a stock fuel pump and was running out of fuel. Install a fuel pump and you'll be able to take advantage of the injectors.

It's really silly to use a Aristo ECU on the 1jz. because the 1jz is meant to rev if you single it has no balls down low. You need the high revs.

Is there a Pro and Cons list to consider when switching to Aristo ECU?

I'm asking because I searched, and looked at all of the results and I don't have something complete to help me make the decision. I just bought a 1JZ ecu and I'm wondering if I should put in an Aristo ECU with a 2J map sensor or to stick with the Stock configuration.

Looks like there is some mixed opinions already, which is good, I want to hear from both sides and why.

It is if you have upgraded cams, IMO. With stock cams you really don't get more power even when rev to the limit. If you like driving your car 99% of the time where you have to rev it to the limit then Aristo ecu is not for you.

The main reason I switched to the aristo ecu is to have better control of my fuel settings. With the upgraded injectors and a SAFC, fuel correction is very high (-32%) with the stock ecu just to get 11.0 afr at wot. With the Aristo ecu due to its having better timing control and can support up to 650cc injectors I have better fuel control with the safc. With this ecu, my fuel correction is under -25% and my afr is around 11.2-11.5 at wot. I can only tell you from experience after I switched to the aristo the car runs stronger outside boost than with the stock ecu. Also, one thing to keep in mind, to run the aristo ecu you will need to have an adapter harness unless you wired yours directly to the ecu. So with the adapter harness if you ever decide to go AEM ems, then you're all set just pnp. Eventually, I will go this route when I change to larger turbo to take advantage of it. But for now I'm content with 450rwhp.
