Are there many 1UZ-FE MA70's out there?

FE classification
I dont think having a gear drive the cams hurts anything. The 1MZ FE Avalon/Camry head flows plenty of air.

The V8 Supra is a terrific idea. And if Toyota sells one for '07 or '08, I am in. Dean Marcum has also done the conversion. The bigger the pump, the more air it can flow.

its not the gear drive that is the issue at all, its the profile of the cams in FE motors that are sopositly a problem. Even then, I dont think that they are that bad. The stock heads and cams have the flow capability of around 600HP for the 1UZ based on flow bench numbers.

Cams run out of huff at around 6K for the 1UZ, and about 4k + for the 2UZ. If you're going to up the redline, you're going to want to change the cams.
We're using a 1U block with 2U heads (better port and cumbustion chamber for FI) with some gnarly cams.

An FE head is just a head with a gear drive and one cam pulley on the head for space on V engines. Yes, I know what an S series engine is.

I also think the 1UZ has great potential.

I am currently putting a 1UZ in my 1998 4runner.
The cheap ($250)chinaman stainless 2uz headers bolt onto it better then paying 1200+ anywhere else.
There is many variations

LS400s have front sump 230cc purple injectors
Mechanical clutch fan

SC400 have rear/mid sump with 251cc blue injectors
come with hydro fan

Some have remote PS reservoirs some have them mounted on the top of the PS
also they very by having traction control or non.

I would try and buy a low millage jdm one for around 400 because they dont have an egr on the oposit end of the TB they seem really dirty in the intake with egrs hooked up.

Haha, wow I think I read to about half of the first page before realizing how old this thread was, and by the way, 1UZ here too. Although its been the engine swap nightmare from heck, but its worth it to put a smile on my face when I press the pedal down.

Hey there, I was the one who started this thread. I haven't been here in a long time, as I sold my Supra in mid 2008 or so. I have seen it twice since, the last time just about 3 weeks ago at the parking lot of a movie theater, and I wanted to cry. The owner is taking good care of it as it looks just like it did when I sold it to him, I knew I was letting it go in good hands.

In case anyone wonders, I ended up buying a 1JZ that came straight from japan with the manual tranny and complete exhaust. The swap was very easily done, and my Supra was original a N/A automatic; I bought the supports from BIC Performance and they fit perfectly. I was in love with this car as I built it from scratch, ordering many parts from all over the Web (ebay, this forum, other online stores). I had a LOT of fun driving it, it was my daily driver for a while and acted like a new car, only having to go to the mechanic a few times. If anyone's thinking of swapping in a 1JZ, don't let the small engine fool you, it's an awesome engine, really.

With a family, two young boys aged 3 years and 6 months respectively, cars aren't an option for me, for the past 2+ years we're daily driving an '01 Nissan X-terra (bought it months before selling the Supra). :( At least it has NEVER made me go to the shop, I just go every few months because I want it checked for safety, but it's been great. Maybe one day I'll buy another one, I loved this car. Go Supras!! :)
